Bitcoin is money for enemies. Nostr is speech for enemies. This isn’t for everyone. There will always be centralized platforms that can censor and remove users. Just as there are centralized financial systems that can censor and remove people. Some will be more comfortable on those platforms. I don’t condone using Nostr or bitcoin for evil. I continue to be amazed by the difference between a protocol and a platform. With nostr, and bitcoin, the network effects exist at the protocol level with multiple platforms able to interface with it. So you get a composable architecture where platforms can improve and compete on a shared, open, persistent protocol. It’s what people get wrong in the “Bitcoin is MySpace” argument.

How do you convert digital fiat to bitcoin in the US without linking to a bank account? Most of our fiat is digital and controlled by state regulated companies (banks/brokerages/credit unions). Without some other conversion mechanism, Bitcoin is effectively state captured. Legislation could guarantee the right to do this, but that’s also a state mechanism.
