It seems that in order to run Mastodon and similar ActivityPub servers a mastodon-sized storage space is required. With snac a mouse-sized storage space is required. So it is like a 'mousetodon' or 'hamsterdon' compared to the mastodon. I suppose rodent analogies can be a good thing.

A while back I decided to check out 'X'. I signed up for an account.
I was IMMEDIATELY inundated with spam follows from dozens and dozens of fake, scam, and bot accounts. It was painfully obvious that ALL of the accounts were for scammers, psyop troll farmers, and the like. None of them were legitimate.
I reported all of them, which was no small feat.
In response to every report 'X' told me there was no evidence of a TOS violation.
So I logged out and I haven't been back. What a disgusting experience. The platform is intentinally suborning a huge horde of scammers and troll farmers on the platform.
'X' is fake as FakeX. The owner is a Dr. Evil type villain.

If you write about someone that you are different from, the sourpuss saviors can complain about that.

The sourpuss saviors of whatever stripe can spin it any way they wish to generate an offense from anything. The primary method for exerting power over others is to accuse them of being against an entire group--then dogwhistle the large group to attack the target.
The cheapest form of accusation is ethnic bias or racism or anything that creates a perceived threat to a group. If you run out of groups to pit against each other, just use propaganda to create more groups for people to percieve, and watch them further fracture into factions. Rulers have used this method for ages (millennia) to divide and conquer the mass of people within imperial orbit.
Damned if you do ... damned if you don't. The 'double-dammy whammy'. The sourpuss saviors say your salvation is assured by your silence (sometimes) or your shouts of support (if said shouts never stop) as long as your words never question who is creating and labeling the contestant groups in the first place.
You asked, "Why?"
Accusation is the cheapest path to exerting power over others. The sourpuss saviors must have an enemy to perpetuate the fantasy of eternal victimhood ... their key to power over you ... they are the victim tribe and you are the oppressor tribe and so you must pay (forever).
Everything must be an offense; everything must be a critical emergency requiring forceful action agains the chosen enemy; and everything and everyone must be saved or punished by the accuser's ascension to power and authority over you, the "oppressor". The palace of heavenly utopia must have a psychiatric wing.
The Apostles understood well: "... for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."

A Corporate Attribution Error seems to describe a mixture of 'event plagiarism' and 'self-proclaimed heroism' and possibly other thinking errors found in the world of corporations and institutions.
I took the liberty to gussy this up to seem a bit more computationally bombastic and utilitarian for fori other than just business:
Corporate Attribution Error
When a corporate entity plagiarizes credit for outcomes or events actually caused by other external forces or factors ... A tendency to mistakenly align remarkable external events to irrelevant internal activities of the entity ... A thinking error wherein a entity or its agent constructs a hallucinatory narrative or ideology about the legendary entity being the initiatory or intentional power or mover behind a event or outcome--whereas the event arose from other factors and the narrative is non-sequitur to the evidence of actual causes for the event or outcome, aligned with entity wants or agendas ... An ideological, "legend in your own mind" attribution error that credits a corporate entity for something it did not actually achieve, to support the wants of the entity.
A 'neologism' is a newly coined word or phrase to describe something, usually because the normal description requires a long string of words. Sometimes people coin neologisms for fun, or as a joke. Sometimes such coinage is for trade jargon, especially in research fields.

Just to compile a tiny Rust program I had to download 1GB of library data. That is ASININE at a minimum. Then it downloaded all that data for a version that didn't match the version required to compile. I immediately uninstalled Rust and I want nothing to do with it. First blush was enough for me.
The Rust cultists will want my head on a pike for saying this. Don't let their hype overcome reason. The OLD SCHOOL languages and compilers are the ONLY way to go with a critical security application: C, C++, Ada, Spark, Pascal, Component Pascal, Oberon, Modula, etc. If you want to maintain C compatibility but use a newfangled lingo then Zig is a sane choice.
If memory safety is a real sticking point, then using FreePascal without invoking any pointers is as safe as it gets while maintaining speed and performance. If coding standards and verifiable security of code are paramount then Ada or Spark are ready made for that. Just my 'nickel's Wirth' ...
If I started with C then I would probably stick with C. The C language is not going anywhere.

I recall those days. Useful sites with easy-to-find information abounded. Search engines had like a hundred boolean operator choices for highly targeted search results. There were many wingnuts--and you know what? Many of those wingnuts were amicable and entertaining. The horde of modern wingnuts are brittle, fragile, highly toxic, vindictive, vicious, vengeful, and vile. Even the slightest interaction with them is at a minimum dangerous for your emotional well-being. Meanwhile the measured and well-thought speech is shadow banned or blocked by the wingnuts who now seem to run the show on behalf of their crony capitalist benefactors--while claiming to fight against 'capitalism' or 'fascism' or whatever 'ism' label is needful to gift wrap their aggression. And the dominant search engines ensure users can only find wingnut-run playground sandboxes--and they charge premium for a paper-thin bucket and wobbly plastic shovel.
