I have lost count of the number of overlapping groups here. The common thread is to do whatever possible to stop a genocide, but there are also housing activists, police and prison abolitionists, mutual aid and food distro groups, a newly formed group of street medics numbering in the hundreds, unionists of many stripes, hackers lawyers and journalists, faculty, staff, and students. On and on. The world is terrible, but there is some hope in it too.

The UC did give a huge amount of urgency, organizing motivation, and weight to those of us who want to make cops off campus a central point of the next contract negotiations. Once the public records shake out, cant wait to see how many TA salaries could be paid by the thousands of mall cops the university rented to surveil, harass, and intimidate activists and union workers.

If they granted amnesty to student protesters, I would bet ~half of the people on strike would go back to work. The people fighting for transparency and divestment all knew we wouldnt win those in this strike and the fight would go on. we were just trying to keep the pressure up to tell the university they couldnt police their way out of the demands from their students and workers.

On tuesday the #UC filed for an injunction to declare the #UAW4811 strike unlawful. PERB just denied it. The ULPs filed by both sides still need to be resolved, but UC gets no special treatment by claiming police violence against its workers is not a workplace issue.
