🤷 The Mastodon vs. Bluesky discussions give me VI/Vim vs. Emacs vibes, and I haven't crap about that either over the last three decades.
**All four suck in their own special ways.**
Unlike Vim or Emacs, I have to use both Mastodon and Bluesky, and I suspect more of us will have those feelings, too.
I go to where my friends and the community are, which means I spend too much time on Discord, too.
Sadly, social media is life.

I don’t consider it a third party intermediary. Their Ultimate software app will let you upgrade the firmware and customize what each profile and button does. It was the stopgap for me to swap buttons and make it work. I use the iOS version.

One that came in handy today is using the `--python=3.9` flag.
Even though our project is using Python 3.12, we have an older deployment script that only runs on Python 3.9.
UV's --python option makes this possible so that it just works and doesn't surprise anyone.
Yes, it needs to be updated, but keeping it stable is worth it for now.

it's really helpful for me. My dyslexia can ebb and flow in waves, and it's easier for me to say something out loud and use a whisper to transcribe it.
I also use a few tools for writing feedback or to help me with conclusions that I rarely bother with.
Even outlines are helpful.
Like any tool, there are good, bad, and unsafe uses.

I'm more recently convinced that template (and context) discovery is one of the hardest problems to solve in Django (along with deployments).
So not sure if starting people off with running these commands to generate your templates might make that less of a whodunit later.

Also be aware that re-formatting/linting textarea widgets (and other widgets) can cause grief in the Django admin and other forms. Its a nice hammer but using it changes everything.

Nicely done. I do a similar trick to look for `/.dockerenv` so that I can tell if Just is running inside or outside of a container (doesn't work with k8s) so that my recipes do what I want without thinking about it.

Yes, there is no optical drive on it. Plenty of onboard storage but like with our XBox 360, part of the fun is shopping for deals on older games. So $700 plus the costs of an external optical drive feels like a lot. They had me until then mostly to play the best of their games after the next gen system comes out.

Thanks. I have ~12 drafts trying to articulate it and I have yet to expand on it.
I also like that there is a just-bin package for Python. I like using this in projects and setting it up so that the commands either run inside or outside of docker based on where we want them to run.
It's kind of trippy but feels good when everything just works inside or out.

It just works and fits my brain better than Make does.
I have lost too many hours to GNU vs. BSD. Make subtitles and a few projects that spanned Windows, Linux, and macOS really burned me out.
It's mostly a command runner for me vs. a build tool.
If you need a build tool on Linux, use Make.
If you want a flexible workflow tool that you can embed Python and any language into, then justfiles shines at this.

I think cookiecutter is perfectly fine/amazing for kicking off a new project.
Copier has support for updating projects and even has a migration concept. See if https://copier.readthedocs.io/en/stable/updating/ speaks to you.
I haven't looked in a while, but I thought their hooks fit my brain too.

This is pretty neat.
I always wondered if it were possible to revert a migration after switching branches. DB state has been changed, but the file isn't on disk. I'm sure it's totally out-of-scope for your revert command, but it made me think of it.

🤔 While I'm not permanently giving up on the Overcast podcast app, it's been so buggy since the rewrite that a show-stopping bug reminds me and frustrates me every day.
If you are an iOS user, what are you using as a stopgap to play your podcasts?
Today's, but I had to kill the app to get new podcasts to download and play.
Last week, I had to kill the app to advance from one episode to the next on my Homepod Mini.
Before the rewrite, everything just worked. 😔

the claude-engineer project is doing some interesting things too. They take a slightly different approach and they built their own data structure to juggle multiple files. I think it would work better if they also used the metadata with XML tags approach.

Because of the roast and rib tips I cooked it all on the smoker. 200F for several hours and then I raised the heat and put the burgers on around 400F to 450F.

We watched on YouTube TV and flipped between one of four streams. I don't know which network it was on, but it was a pretty raw mix of several events but they would lock into one event like breaking for an hour or so. There were several without even commentary, which was nice.
I can see how NBC might try to summarize/create a reaction though that's probably why it was lost on us.

Yes. Good point. This project was an excel to web app for a large company. Hundreds to maybe a thousand records so the downtime was minimal and acceptable.

I have never see one. If you have db_table explicitly declared, a proxy model may or may not be helpful for transitioning.
