That explains it: I dont use EV_EOF.
I try a read() on the fd and use that to either close or go again.
Intuitively EV_EOF would make sense, so I think you should push for a change.

I dont think it's particular the PQC, as much as the tiresome "We need to add more Encryption" refrain.
Cryptology does solve a lot of problems, but seldom the ones which actually impact people and sysadms, and it also creates it's own problems and failure modes (Key rotation).
Maybe add to that the increasing perception (NB: not necessarily reality) that encryption is something criminals exploit a lot ?
Not quite "WOLF!" but getting there...

The people you call "journalists" have as their top priority, if they want to keep their job, to generate clicks on their employers home-page. Many of them are on a quota measured in "click-through per some unit of time" or, if they are lucky "stories per day".
The sane way to do that job, is to concentrate on who and why clicks happen, and spending time on getting to the bottom of things or holding power accountable will distract you from that.
