Plan 9 gave us far more than its adoption would otherwise suggest. UTF-8, the /proc filesystem, XRender was based on the Plan 9 draw device drawing model, the Plan 9 assembler is directly ancestral to the Go toolchain, etc.

The Centurion Lounge at LAX has a dead tree copy of “The Relational Model for Database Management” on the shelf amongst other random books in a decorative bookcase.
It was literally glued into place as a decoration or I would have considered…liberating…it. Ethically.

I think Joe Biden is a decent human being and I’m sure today has been very difficult for him. I hope he can find solace. I don’t know if it was the right choice; we probably will never know.
What saddens me the most is that there seem to be better-than-even odds that America will voluntarily (though not without shenanigans and fingers on the scale) give up its republic for someone who would be unbelievable even as a comic book villain. I don’t know what to do.

In 9yo’s memory, we have lost two dogs and a cat.
9yo has informed us that while they are all likely in Heaven, one of the dogs is certainly in a “higher level, better” Heaven because he was significantly nicer than the other two.
The theological implications of this are interesting.
