That's rough, I was annoyed at the hellthread a few months ago, but I wasn't getting death threats in there. 😔
IMO this is mostly a technical problem - It shouldn't be possible to add you to a thread and then spam notifications forever. Nostr clients need to step up on this.
So far my best experience with blocking spam and trolls is on Coracle - Coracle hides replies to people you muted by default. There's also web of trust filtering on comment replies, if you set WoT to at least 1 one of your your follows need to follow them in order for you to see their posts. This is mostly for fighting spam, but this guy who's harassing you managed to get a -14 score just by being an asshole.

There's some problem with hellthread on Coracle as well, but I found that if you mute the thread in another client, Coracle will respect that. So I used Nostter and "Leave thread" button in notifications to do that.

I wholeheartedly support this - Politicians have repeatedly interfered with Bitcoin in the last few years. Organizing to make life difficult for them in turn is what a healthy democracy looks like.
W.r.t Gensler only being a problem for "crypto" - Sorry you're completely wrong about this. First of all SEC fought Bitcoin ETF:s every step of the way - Along that time they repeatedly described Bitcoin as a scam only used for criminals. Gensler is not a Bitcoiner, he's a nocoiner. If it was up to him we'd have no ETF:s and no options trading on these ETF:s. They only approved ETF:s because they lost a court case against Grayscale. Could we fight a hostile SEC for everything? Sure, maybe. But I'd rather get the SEC out of the way altogether if I can.
I would also say that regardless of your opinion on "crypto", Bitcoin and crypto are regulated together in practice. And I would much rather have pro-crypto politicians than anti-crypto ones. Molly White has the opposite preference - She's a self described "crypto critic", I.E a rapid nocoiner and statist. She's much more of an enemy of Bitcoin than anybody working at Coinbase is.

Just had a look at my actual screen time stats for today, and I actually underestimated it quite a bit.
I've been using Coracle on mobile as well since a few days ago so it was actually 2 h 23 min. 83 min Coracle, and even 60 min everything else.
The "everything else" is all a few minutes per app like I mentioned, but it still added up to an hour which is more than I'd have guessed.

Mostly utility stuff - Taking down grocery lists, checking my calendar, checking the time, setting alarm clocks, using 2FA. These all take like <= 1 min each so that's why I'd guess the number is pretty low.
I also listen to podcasts pretty often - But if we're counting screen time I don't look at the phone except to start the episode though.
So basically I interact with my phone pretty often but not for very long at a time.

The actual E2EE conversations are secure: The encryption is Open Source and well audited, and the apps have reproducible builds on all platforms were that's possible. If anybody claims Signal can read your messages that's BS IMO.
That said, Signal have copped some criticism that they still need a phone number for sign up. IIRC they said want Signal to be a drop in replacement for WhatsApp and to have easy onboarding via SMS. But the paranoid take would be that it's also a easy metadata id for everyone on the app, so you can see who is talking to who, even if you don't know what they're saying.
Personally I'm fine with the tradeoff for being easy to use and normie friendly though. Like, if you are personally targeted by a alphabet agency it's probably not safe for you to use a phone at all regardless of what app you're using.
If you're really concerned about this you can switch to SimpleX, but personally I feel like that's overkill in most people's threat model. Just don't go to Telegram instead, they cast a lot of FUD on Signal's security even though they're worse in every way.

I've lived in Switzerland for 3 years, I really recommend it!
Nature around here is beautiful - It's in the middle of the alps, so you have a lot of big and small mountains nearby. There's also many lakes between the mountains you can go boating or swimming in. In winter there's great access to skiing. Here's some photos from Lucerne / Lake Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus for flavor. 🤩

Local life is extremely safe and crime free - Even the largest cities like Zürich feel safe at night, which is important to me at least.
Switzerland as a country is very Bitcoin friendly: Lugano has made Bitcoin legal tender. Zug is nicknamed "crypto valley" - Sadly that's mostly due to a lot of shitcoins incorporating there, but they do that because the legislation is very friendly and tax rates are low. Which is also something I appreciate.
Income potential in Switzerland is high by international standards - It's roughly comparable with secondary US cities, but the quality of life here is much better! I make a low six figure income working as a programmer here. For types of jobs it's mainly big corporate healthcare / finance / mechanical engineering. Although you can also find some cool Bitcoin and freedom tech companies such as Relai or Proton that are based here.
Switzerland has low taxes by OECD standards, although not quite the absolute lowest globally. I pay around 20% income tax and social security combined. There is no capital gains tax, but there is a (very small) wealth tax. You can sell your Bitcoin without incurring any taxes. But you do need to declare how much Bitcoin or other assets you have, as you're taxed on total wealth.
The only real downside I can cite is high cost of living - The largest cities are like San Francisco levels of gentrification. You spend the equivalent of $28 eating lunch out, and $3k/mo renting. It's not so bad if you have a local salary, I still feel like my income goes pretty far. But you're absolutely not remote working or something from here, that's for sure.
However you get what you pay for in Quality of Life. 🤙

Mostly not at all, it only targets commercial actors. Primal might need to do something like geoblock EU. FOSS is a great way to bypass this bad legislation if it does come to pass. SimpleX will also be unaffected.
Also worth noting the vote June 19 is just the council of ministers vote - It won't be law until negotiated with parliament, which is broadly against chat control.

I looked into this myself. This is not possible AFAIK, as the VPN apps want to proxy all your traffic, so they fight each other.
But I found a quite nice workaround, which is to do this:
1. Run just Tailscale on my phone.
2. Run Tailscale on my home server.
3. Set my router to use Mullvad as Wireguard proxy.
4. Set the phone to use the home server as exit node.
That way you can VPN back to your home server, but you also get IP privacy to the phone at the same time.

Are you conservative about changes, or do you want to eff with the block size limit? I have a lot of sympathy for ossification, but if you believe that you should keep the current block size. Because we know Bitcoin works today, and you shouldn't fix what isn't broken. All updates to consensus code are risky, and should be avoided as long as possible.
I'm not a core dev, so take it for what it's worth, but altering the block size feels 10x more reckless than even the most risky soft forks being talked about now (I.E drivechains, OP_CAT et cetera). That alters the entire economics around using L1 for miners, hodlers and everyone else. Nobody could possibly predict all the consequences of doing that ahead of time. Which IMO means you shouldn't do it.

Me personally I'm a threads hater... It's basically just a blog post split into > 20 different chunks. The reading experience on Twitter was terrible unless you used TwitLonger to turn it back into a continuous text again.
Nostr has long form content which obviates the need to do this in the first place. Having the thread as a single article in markdown with headlines and such is about 1000x more pleasant to read IMHO.

My thinking on the ETFs are: They're not made for me or people like me, but people who are unable to self custody for whatever reason. The way I'd like to take the ETF discourse is like: Yes, you should self custody but if you can't yet what's the least harmful set of training wheels you can put on?
I've thought about this for a bit, and I think the most important aspect is that you get a ETF with direct withdrawal on chain: So that when you do learn to self custody, you can do so without selling and re-buying your stack, and potentially giving away 20-30% of it as capital gains tax. You can also withdraw in an emergency to "run the bank".
I think odds are pretty good that if we get one ETF to add direct deposit/withdrawal all of them will have to. ETFs list on the same stock exchanges and are very competitive, they just can't afford to be behind their competitors in features.

I've two pieces of feedback:
- It's annoying when you go into replies in the feed, and then back, the position in the feed is not kept. This makes it annoying to read through the feed.
- Have you considered adding web of trust the way Coracle does it? I honestly find it hard to use any other web client these days as comments are otherwise full of airdrop spam.

IMO it's just that RoboSats uses Lightning - If you already have a channel open it doesn't get more expensive to make trades with it, even if on-chain fees spike.
That being said you eventually need to open/close channels and swap out to cold storage and such, this does get pricier.

From my end things look pretty alright on RoboSats? I just had a look at the 24 h mean premium: It's 3.06%, that's pretty normal in my experience, it's usually in the 2-3% range.
My main pain point right now is I'd like to swap out, but my effective fee rate to do that is like 1.5%, so I'm waiting until I stack some more sats first. 🙂

Web of trust would work: You can make any number of npubs, but if nobody you follows followed them, you can hide them.
This is implemented in Coracle as of a few days ago, works great to get rid of shitcoin spam. It's just as effective against any form of throwaway account though: If the new key has no following it won't be seen.
