This is not fucking positive or heartwarming, it's dystopian!
It's utterly horrible that we've decided that allowing people to become billionaires is more important than universal access to lifesaving medical care.

Someone tried to dump a task on me in a work meeting today, and I apparently flipped it back onto them so deftly that multiple people on the call immediately congratulated me as the original person declared defeat lol

One of the FM radio station presets in my car went to the dark side (country music), so I finally sat in my driveway for several minutes after getting home today and reprogrammed everything lol.

A couple months ago I bought a used desktop from a local electronics recycler for a couple hundred bucks, mainly to run a dedicated game server.
It came w/ Windows 10, which was handy because I had already built up Windows tooling on an older box.
...but Win10 will become unsupported in 16 months, and - despite having a TPM module - it can't be upgraded to Win11 because its Core i7-7700 CPU is "too old".
I'll probably have to switch it over to Linux, which may be better for performance anyway

The #Windows11 Task Bar is such garbage. I plugged in a second monitor and was wondering if there was a way to get my pinned apps to appear on the secondary Task Bar.
...Toggled an unrelated setting off and back on while poking around Settings, and *boom* they all suddenly appeared.
I wanted to give it an honest go, but given that this is clearly an amateur knockoff of the much superior Task Bar from previous Windows releases, I may as well look at third-party options lol.

@npub14fs…qegk I've known about curses libraries for probably 30 years due to tinkering with roguelikes, but I've never had an excuse to write a curses app from scratch until now.

Some software I help maintain has a janky logging GUI written in Java that I've been trying to kill off for at least half a decade. Thankfully it's no longer usable due to how we've migrated everything to run in containers, so while I wait for a fancy replacement to get implemented, I'm having a blast secretly working on an ncurses-based "TUI" (textual/terminal user interface) that users will be able to run from a container shell.
