I want to vouch for @npub13cj…xnnm's tip from yesterday's show (#1688). About 6 months ago my workplace started changing the wheels of all office chairs from plastic to silicone, and I liked the change and wanted to do the same at home. When I looked for such wheels on Amazon, I found this "roller-blade" type and thought it made more sense than the skate-type my workplace went with. I'm VERY happy with my choice! The chair rolls like BUTTER.

There's a very big difference between being blocked by a server and being blocked by a client app. The former is stupid but fine. The latter is unacceptable and disregards the whole point of the Fediverse.

As for licensing: His blocklists for Mastodon, Pleroma etc. are provided under CC-BY-SA - so, he doesn't see them as a software issue, but as a COPYRIGHT issue.
Also, he says "This list is not comprehensive; to keep this list small, I excluded many really bad instances. I take into account not just severity, but also notoriety and likelihood of reaching/harming people on other instances". So according to him, we are the WORST of the fediverse.
What an asshole.

I just went over the GPL v3.0 license, which covers this app - and to my surprise, it has no clause that even remotely stands for 'freedom 0'. Seems like the FSF itself has abandoned any attempt at supporting real freedom.
The world is going in a very, VERY bad direction.

Android wasn't better than iOS when it overtook its marketshare, with all of its fragmentation and other issues (to this very day you have NO IDEA how long a device will get updates). And in my opinion, iOS isn't the better option. It was Windows Phone.

Moshidon is actually a fork of Megalodon. Husky and Tusky are WAY worse (4x the size and practically just PWA UI and TONS of missing features).

I used Fedilab in the past, until I realized Megalodon, Moshidon and Mastify are less than a sixth of the size (4.6MB, 4.6MB and 5.3MB, vs. 32MB) and have better UIs.

can someone please explain to me what the difference between Mastodon and Nostr is? I always thought they were just two almost identical twin protocols doing the same thing with a slightly different codebase.

Yesterday I realized Moshidon, my favorite Mastodon client, started blocking NAS this past week. I uploaded an issue on GitHub to ask if it was intentional. The answer is scary: It is, and Moshidon is one of many apps to do so. They've blocked over 150 servers already, many of which are totally harmless (and that's beside the point, actually).
This means developers have taken the whole idea of federation and flushed it down the woke toilet. It's a huge blow for us.
