and then (at least on standard, well Pixel, Android) half the apps don't work at that setting and tell you to enable location permissions and redirect you to settings to change it to "always".

APT 3.0.0 is released.
This marks a sort of point of finalization for the work done in 2.9.x.
I did not quite get everything done I wished I would, but also more than I anticipated :D
Some more work is going to be needed on modernize-sources and making error messages from the new solver translatable, but we can do those in 3.0.x releases.
I dedicated the 3.0 series to Steve Langasek who passed away earlier this year.

I found it always ended up having to import some sort of recovery export of the private key and pray stuff work, I could not get the automatic session key stuff to work at all.
Where encryption works seemlessly is whatsapp and signal. But there the keys aren't exchanged or anything; a backlog is pushed from the primary device to the new device and future messages are also encrypted to the new device by advertising that key (AFAIUI).

Encryption in matrix is more what I'd call an absolute cluster fuck. Inevitably you end up with failures to decrypt messages all the time. It's virtually unusable.

In Germany a new restaurant opens and then you don't go for months because you don't have any cash and you don't know if they take MasterCard, and you don't want to go in and find out and get rejected and leave without food.
Literally waiting for months now seeing if somebody adds details to their Google Maps entry.

this may be surprising to you but anything you get free from your employer would be considered extra income in Germany and taxed as such. This could be free charging, free food, or whatever, I have no idea how it works in other countries :D
They specifically added an exemption for free charging of EV vehicles here that it's tax free.
(Also small stuff like charging your phone at work is theft and a fireable offense)

So you change charge for free, and tax free at work? I was surprised to find out recently that it's tax free in Germany, normally this would be taxed like fictional income (same if you got a free meal at work, or you gather bonus miles travelling for business or whatnot)
