I stopped off on the way to this morning's Quaker meeting to take a couple of photos. The sky is so blue and the fine weather is set to continue all of next week. The tourists will love it.

I've been quiet here because I was busy with Inktober and now with #WritingMonth. Also I sprained my ankle a week and a half ago, so I'm not doing interesting things, just resting. Anyway, this is the mosaic of all the sketches.

I've never got on well with NaNoWriMo because I just can't write that much in a month. So partly because of that, but more importantly because I don't want anything more to do with the official site, I've signed up for #WritingMonth at https://writingmonth.org/
I'll be working on the first draft of a fantasy novel. I'm not sure how the buddy system will work because there are no forums, but this is me.

I just watched Alfred's video. It was a very long train so no wonder the steam engine needed a bit of help.
It's always fun to see special steam trains out on the main lines though.

I went out in the garden yesterday to do some tidying up. I saw some toadstools growing by an old tree stump.
Something had eaten them and when I looked at the pictures, this is the creature that is to blame. There's a slug hanging under the cap.

Dw i'n cario 'mlaen efo'r her inktober, ond ar ôl dangos mod i'n gallu gwneud hi, yn y dyfodol mi fydda i'n postio dim ond y brasluniau sy'n oce. Mae'r braslun heddiw'n arw iawn ac yn profi mod i ddim yn medru tynnu cymylau. Felly bydda i ddim yn postio fo yma.
I'm carrying on with the inktober challenge, but having shown I can do it, in the future I'm only going to post the sketches which are OK. Today's sketch is very rough and proved that I can't draw clouds, so I won't post it here.

Thank you. I was horse mad when I was young and endlessly drew horses, even in the margins of my school books. When I was an adult, I had horses for about 25 years, but now I just admire other people's horses and ponies.

We have rather more brambles in our garden than I'm happy with, but at least we got lots of blackberries last year. We had crumbles and pies and I made blackberry and apple jam. This year, despite the brambles encroaching even further, we've had only enough blackberries for one crumble.
I think the weather earlier in the year favoured vegetative growth rather than flowering and fruiting.

This morning I took the car to the garage because it needs an MOT test. I'm crossing my fingers that everything will be fine.
After leaving the car in a garage, I went to the Co-op to buy a few things. Now I'm thinking what to do next.

We enjoyed yesterday's walk so much that we went back to Bargoed today to walk down the valley in the other direction. This section of the restored mining area was less tidy, but still a pleasant walk. We went as far as Pengam where we ate our sandwiches before walking back.

Today we explored somewhere new. We don't know South Wales very well so today we caught the train to Bargoed and explored the Cwm Darran Park. What was once a railway line, where trains carried coal down from several mines, is now a pleasant walking and cycling trail. We went as far as the visitor centre and lake before retracing our steps and catching the train back to Cardiff.
