When previously non-conspiratorial influencers, or powerful voices like some on the left mentioned in here, start taking a turn in that direction it suggests that conspiracy theorizing is become normalized, acceptable. Not a risky thing to dabble in. The audience is there, or willing to be. That’s not a great signal.

Influencers play a really interesting role here. They are info gatekeepers for their audiences because they decide whether or not to propel a message along to millions. They have the power of amplification.
Influencers are also afraid of losing the reputations/audiences they worked for. So they are generally fairly sure the audience will approve of something before they say it…

The tropes that have been appearing in these conspiracy theories — false flags, foreign provocateurs, staged attacks - are very old. They’re common in *movies*, which makes them immediately recognizable, makes them seem perhaps more plausible…but the speed and conviction w/which people across the political spectrum now jump to wild theories & find receptive audiences is disturbing.

Matt Taibbi has now gone on the Hill TV and claimed that my work is sponsored by DHS and State (it is not), so my calls to use section 230 to “bring these companies to heel” were an “overt threat” (I said no such thing; he lied about this below). CHD is quoting the appearance for their audience. This repetition is how they launder their lies into reality for their followers.

The best part about making a turkey - did one for New Years’ Day - is having a carcass for stock…especially if you glaze it with something like a honey or apricot jam + Sririacha and then the stock picks up those flavors.

I could have second-guessed every word for many more weeks but it feels so good to just be done with it.

@npub1typ…c8hh my oldest is 9. :) SF swimming was just impossible, lessons sold out in 6 seconds. We couldn’t keep it going.
