There is no build script in the package json of nostr tools. But it’s still simple enough. Clone the repo, install bun, and run:
$ bun run build.js
$ tsc
(You can probably use node instead of bun)
Then the bundle file will be in the lib folder and you can just serve it with the rest of your app

I can find many other sources for the IMF having updated BPM7, their “statistics” manual to include cryptocurrencies. E.g https://cryptoslate.com/imf-updates-global-standards-to-include-crypto-in-balance-of-payments/
(I can also find sources in PDFs in the IMF website)

Public markets give you cheap capital and liquidity, if you don’t need that, it’s not like it’s more moral to be public.
You can spend time talking to customers instead of Wall Street analysts.
There are secondary markets for private equity, you don’t need an IPO anymore.

It is a way for two relays to know which events one has and the other doesn’t, so that you can sync them.
You can use a local relay / cache and keep it in sync with your actual relays easily. And it’s super fast!

For me the “old reliable” is react/redux in part due to familiarity, in part cause it solves the problem I value the most - decoupling logic and making it easy to locate where some state update is going wrong.
Something I learned was to not try new tech when building a product I don’t understand yet - and since I spend more time prototyping, I go for the boring stack I’m most productive in.

I think it’s all a question of which kind of problems you want to have…
A complex app will have lots of state to manage no matter what. With vanilla JS you’ll have to find a structure for it yourself. Frameworks bring you a structure and a bunch of tradeoffs.

Ah! I was taking a look at Coracle’s code some time ago and thinking “maybe I should learn this Svelte thing” 😅
Call me old fashioned, but my go to is still react + redux + redux-saga. Yes it’s boilerplaty, but isolates UI code from state management, from side effects, which makes debugging much faster (no magic). That said, if I was optimizing for performance I’d maybe have to reconsider.

I’m experimenting with building a simple wealth tracker, where you save encrypted records of your assets’ value to a local relay (indexedDB), and sync to a trusted relay.
If your nsec is compromised, the ideal would be for the data to not be revealed without an extra key.
If I’m not mistaken, the scheme you shared allows me to achieve this, since you’d need the device as well to decrypt. And I would add a passphrase, for when the device is compromised.
Am I doing something stupid? 😅

In the short term, it reduces their earnings I guess, since it reduces the amount of transactions (assuming those transactions would be made in the base layer otherwise, which isn’t true in many cases).
In the long run, it raises the economic value of each base layer transaction, which should allow for higher fees.
But in the short run, I believe most gains come from the block reward, not fees (haven’t checked recently though)

I think it de incentivizes all mining equally. It means you’re mining just for the block reward, which is halved every 4 years… so that revenue has to be replaced by fees over time.
The solution is not so much on the mining side, it is on having more usage of Bitcoin P2P - more on chain payments, more lightning channels being opened, etc..
Unfortunately we also have the incentive to hodl and spend fiat instead, so this will probably only really change when there is a significant amount of people with no fiat to spend (I.e living in a bitcoin standard).

On real estate prices in Portugal: don’t think Blackrock is the issue here as Katie was saying (at least never heard about it).
The money printer obviously had a big effect, but also the fact that Portugal built half the amount of housing it used to in the last 20 years.
Immigrants probably had an effect in expensive real estate only, which should actually stimulate new construction elsewhere.
The problem is that approving a construction project is a bureaucratic nightmare that takes years (@npub1dtf…hgu0 mentioned it took him 4 years in a recent podcast episode).
The rental market is tiny, because you’d be crazy to rent out your apartment with the current laws.
Buying a house involves paying 4 related taxes and 23% sales tax in building materials will be passed to you by the builder.
All this to say, there’s more ways for politicians to be incompetent than money printing.

The problem with AAA games is they’re made for everyone to be able to beat them. I think that’s fine but it’s better when there’s an easier workaround that the player knows they’re taking. Fx I remember as a kid playing KOTOR I had to solve some logarithms for a puzzle, but could have avoided them through a brute force approach.
