Never give up on those close to you. If you are willing to sacrifice social capital, memes are legitimately the best avenue I've found. Repetition and humor are great ways to get through to people.
But if the subject has been worn thin, just being supportive and being there for others is great too. Lead by example and show them your values through your actions. They will notice and eventually they will want to copy you.

Everything we see is new and magnificent. So many firsts, and so much time. I remember the first time I learned about Dinosaurs and the concept that there was unique life before us. I was ecstatic. I ran around my house full of joy and curious happiness.
Over time, all the magic becomes normalized. You start to understand the mechanisms behind the brilliant tales you were told and the beautiful creations you have experienced. Things that once seemed miraculous become mundane, and more evil is revealed.
Many become broken down and lose their innocence over this process. Whether it be the death of someone close, heartbreak, failure, substances, insecurities, toxic relationships, or general tragedies, life slowly reveals it's harsh, temporary, unforgiving nature. Some of the innocent thrills of novel, pure experiences linger in the background as memories from another reality. And the knowledge that you can never change the evil and tragedy which has occurred can be oppressive.
So when you see that innocent light inside of someone else, protect it. And when you yourself are feeling down, try to remember the incredible, brilliant beauty which can be found in the ordinary. Life is a beautiful journey and anything is possible. Good beats evil and we can live in the moment while learning from the past.

Good luck. I tried that for a while and my node would lose connection with the miner about once a day and stop hashing. Make sure you check your stats fairly regularly until you know it's stable.

It did pretty good during covid. Bitcoin is the solution to monetary debasement. It is not a short term stable coin which is immune from liquidity and market forces.
If everything were denominated in bitcoin it would be much more stable, but it would still never match traditional markets because they are artificial and create systemic risk to suppress volatility.
Even with a Bitcoin standard you'll probably have a few 5-10% flash washouts every now and then because it's an actual free market.

Yes, but gold is totally inferior against this type of attack.
Gold supply is undefined, while Bitcoins is precise.
Gold supply is not auditable, while Bitcoins supply is public.
Gold is impractical to self custody over a value threshold, while Bitcoin can be self-custodied at any value level.
Gold is slow to transport or settle, while large amount of Bitcoin can be moved within an hour at a trivial cost.
Businesses like FTX, Blockfi, Celsius, and MtGox have showed us what happens if you run a fractional reserve Bitcoin system. FTX in particular is a great example of a suspicious, government backed company blowing up because they were operating fraudulently.
But don't take my word for it. Just wait on the next decade. Either coinbase runs a full reserve bitcoin bank or they go out of business. I'm betting the latter, and I'll happy take cheap sats if there is manipulation.

I had a crazy dream last night. In the dream, I time travelled back to 2018. While it wasn't a perfect match, it felt very real and I felt like I was living out my past with full knowledge of what would happen in the future.
It made me realize that there are a lot of things I would've tried to do differently. The entire energy of the world also felt different. The events of 2020 broke a lot of people.
But the funniest thing that I'll share with you all is that even in my dream, I remembered to go try and buy Bitcoin. I sold my packed lunch to the school librarian for a few sats lol. I didn't have any savings or income in 2018 so I couldn't act on it very much.
My favorite time traveller joke was to go around and tell people about the winter 2021 $69,420 high. The number is so silly that nobody thought I was serious but I knew that my joke would pay off for those who remembered.

There is a reason that Satoshi designed Bitcoin to work even if participants left and rejoined the network at irregular intervals. Managing uptime and latency is a full time job if you have real value on the line and cannot afford to be offline.

That's not how it works in this case. Solo CK isn't a traditional pool where they pay out proportionally, you still get the block reward sent to a solo address.
Solo CK just provides the service of managing a node and creating block templates as well as sending work to miners. Solo mining on your own node is cool but most solo miners aren't well equipt to do extensive testing on latency and uptime to make sure they are maximizing their reward potential.
Whoever runs Solo CK takes 2% for this service and it goes to a separate address in the coinbase transaction. Check the pool history to see how this works.

You can value anything in anything. You can value cars in bananas if you'd like, and I'm sure some people will try that for as long as we have freedom. But money is a network good and its not useful or practical to value things in a worse money that less people use. Bitcoin is the best money and once most people use it, it will be the standard for value.
