In the 1980s, when I was still young, I would carry 20 or 30 pounds of groceries, including med sized watermelons, 5 miles or more on my pedal Raleigh Supercourse with Kirtland pannies

if you adjust for population size, the 1200 deaths on Oct7 are 30x the size of the death toll on 9/11
can you imagine what the US would have done if 9/11 had been *thirty times* worse then it was ?
of course, the same argument applies to the Gazan's losses in the current war, although, afaik, very few Americans cared much about civilian deaths in afghanistan

not sure $10,000 every year for 250 years is something that really makes sense; I maintain, and have done so consistently, that the diff between million billion trillion is really hard to understnad
