Photography question. I have an old Canon 600D (Rebel T3i) that can't connect to my PCs. Tried three, nothing. Tried several USB cables, nothing. Updated the firmware on the camera, nothing. All I want to do is get the shutter count to convince myself to get a R6 Mark II. Any ideas? Pcs were both Windows 11 and 10.

Yesterday there was lots of raccoon nattering in one of the spruce trees out the back. Later I saw a HUGE adult spread out sleeping way up one of them. Today, this little guy scared the crap out of me. It's alive but very sleepy. I mowed the lawn, trimmed it and he didn't move. Two young ones were trying to climb up the trees the other morning. I hope this one makes it to adulthood.

Pork tenderloin was on the menu last evening. (I typed 'manu' by accident. Is that what a cannibal menu is named?) Normally it's Instant Pot and done but I was doing brown rice in the pot. So, air fryer it was. What a wonderful experience! 15 minutes, crispy and just a bit pink. One minute in the microwave cleared that. Look, I don't need to make food tastier, believe me. But air fryer tenderloin is the way of my future.

Supper went well, thanks to everyone who responded to my pesto query. I used the pesto as a condiment on the 'mess' I cooked. Tofu, leftover boiled potatoes and sweet potato heated in a big cast iron frypan with hosin sauce and onions. I call it mess or much but wow, it was so good with the pesto!

PWHL tonight has New York at Toronto, 7 PM EST. Unfortunately, it's at the Mattamy Centre, my old alma mater...sort of. 2,500 fans when they could have 20,000. Baffles the mind. Whoever didn't see the future in women's hockey should be out of a job. Toronto is 2 points ahead of New York, close because of overtime wins. New York has the league lead in that stat. Most GF, too. I started a sim racing forum, successful a few years ago, now quiet but still running. Strangers became friends, the games receded a bit into the background and we all learned about the various worlds around us. I guess if you don't do it, it seems weird but it isn't. Face to face is good but it brings up other obstacles. IMHO, that is.

I dream about being in a basement where there is a sub-basement. In that sub-basement is a stone trapdoor that leads to a low room. I don't know what's in the room but I know it's something I should be seeing. Maybe it's claustrophobia but I had a knot in my stomach when I woke. I think I've dreamt about this before but my brain often creates memories that seem very real but in daylight are not. This one? I'm not sure. It seems less real as time goes by.

My epiphany this morning from my walk. All those angry people, Karens, Kens, etc. might just be gamblers who've lost recently. Gambling ads are everywhere and they shout about how easy it is, how anyone can do it. I'd bet, sorry, that much of the anger we see these days is frustration and guilt from gambling losses. Prediction: As it has already in golf, gamblers will begin affecting the outcome of games/events by their behavior.

How's your mood? Mine is down, add a 'very' to that. This part of August has too many triggers. Cooler weather, less sunlight and worst of all, the back to school blues. I grew up on a farm so going back to school was great, no problem. Then we had kids. We had glorious summers. The ads say it's 'the best time of the year' but for me, it's the worst. Why have kids if you love it when they're not around? Well, that's how it is on August 22, 2023. Thanks to Walter Cronkite for that.

OK, a few things for your Saturday. First, check out The Avengers episode, 'The Nutshell', if you can. Lots of odd sets and some funny (now) security protocols. I'm only halfway through but so far, it's fun. Second, I looked up Honor Blackman again and discovered that her and Patrick Macnee released a record in 1964. 'Kinky Boots' wasn't a hit then but charted in 1990. The song caused a national controversy. Read about that for a laugh.

A definition of insanity goes something like, "doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result'. The Blue Jay batters are like that. Nothing changes, they swing and swing but don't shorten up, don't make contact, don't adjust their swing...etc. If something isn't working, try something else. Handling RISP is like quantum physics, I guess. Watch an Orioles game and you'll see a huge difference in their approach at the plate.

A cooking tip: If you're wondering about an air fryer, I'd suggest getting one that has doors and can double as an over. I hate toaster ovens with a passion but this air fryer I have, got it from Costco on a deal, is excellent. Besides fries and coated chicken thighs, excellent deal at Costco, it's perfect for those small lunchtime pizzas, guess where I got them. In a microwave, they're soggy. In my air fryer? Just like store bought.

Ikea is opening a new store near me here in Scarborough. Scarborough is the most diverse part of Toronto. If you know Toronto, that's saying something. Personally, I love it and wouldn't live anywhere else in the city. So, what does it mean when Ikea says "Our newest small store is not like any IKEA store you have seen. Designed specifically for residents in the east end of Toronto, this location is completely unique."? We'll see, I guess.

@npub1hze…3jt3 All of this sent me down the monogamy/polygamy rabbit hole. I'd love to know if there is a reasoning behind the whole more than one wife law in the Quran. Or is it so just because it was written? There are lots of rules in the old testament, some of which make sense today while others seem impossible to figure out. I'd also love to know if there are any religions that originated by women. Even a rumor of one. That would be fascinating!

Homemaking tip: Fitted sheets a pain? Remember, each one has a tag on one of the corners. It's either on the bottom right or left corner. Mark it to save time, no searching. It's covered by the top sheet/duvet/whatever so no one but you will see the mark.
Each sheet has four sides you can use. My hairy legs result in pilling on the sheets. Queen bed, I sleep alone so I can turn the sheet over or flip it top to bottom to get a new surface when the pilling starts. Hope this helps someone.

@npub1hze…3jt3 Thanks. The guy was just a normal, working guy. Really nice, too. I have a copy of the Quran here but I've never read it. The old testament, yes. My thought is that any religion invented by a man that allows men to marry multiple women isn't worth studying. But I'm sure there are some decent things in it.

Sexual harassment in the Ukrainian army is sickening. Hopefully, Hanna Maliar will get to the bottom of it and protect the women fighting for the damn country. (This line made me think of David, Bathseba and poor Uriah. Uriah was sent to the front lines.) "female subordinates to have sex with him or face their husbands being sent to the front."
