About to attempt to migrate to my own instance - which I gather is not a 100% water-tight process, so I imagine I'll lose some folk along the way. New deets in profile just in case.
My sincere thanks to @npub1zps…43k4 for hosting this instance - I've been very happy here, but I've been self hosting more so wanted to try out GTS for a bit. I may well regret it and come back (if they'll have me) in the future :)

I was trying to explain it to a friend and I suspect doing a terrible job at it :)

I drifted for a good while, before ended up in academia, where I've had fun helping ecologists with their research, speeding up their computation and building things to support their research.
I get to learn a lot about a new domain I'm not an expert in (I hope to get my junior ecologist merit badge any day soon), and I'm helping those who are trying to save the planet by using the skills I have, which feels a much better use for them.

thanks! It was a weird day - a mile away it was bright sunshine, and then this is the beach at Blyth which was just thick fog, but with some glow to it. We had lunch in a very British way and then I got some time lapses. Very fortunate timing.
