The movie continuation of Pole Princess will be up for sale on blu-ray on 8/28. I'm looking forward to this because the mocap work for the dance numbers was excellent and the dances themselves were beautiful.

I got a onn 4k tv box today from wal-mart for $20. If you are looking for a kodi box, this would scratch that itch. I was able to directly install kodi from the play store on it instead of having to sideload it the way I did on my firestick. It comes preloaded with your usual amount of apps for streaming services that I could not possibly care less about; I just want a gadget that plays my animu and movies in the living room, and one that's also small enough to take with me on trips.
This does that. I tested out x264 and x265 videos from one kodi instance to the one on the box through my wifi network and they played without issue. So that's good. But where I will give the firestick the edge is in otg support. I had to try out a number of apps before I found that I could access a usb stick via otg, which in this case was file manager +. Unfortunately this device does not support ntfs natively like its previous generation did. I did try a workaround by installing rar support into kodi and then trying to play a split volume rar in kodi, but it did not work. It did play the other mkv and mp4 videos from the stick but it would appear that I have to keep their sizes under the fat32 maximum.
To be thorough, I also tested youtube on it and it played fine. It also supports chromecast and that seemed to work acceptably when I put that to the test.
Overall rating: The remote that came with it is also okay quality. As far as downsides, it lacks support for standards like HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos. I would have given it a much higher rating if I could have used ntfs formatted devices on it. Still, this is not bad for $20. If you have a dumb tv and want to look at youtube and use kodi to watch your stacks of downloaded anime, tv shows, and movies on it, this'll get it done. If you give sales presentations you could carry one in your backpack and hook it up to a hotel room tv to show off a promo video. I'll bring mine when I visit some fellow otakus in Japan and want to show them some anime they haven't seen yet.

@npub1nwk…2t9d This won't cure the problem of uninteresting OSTs in new games but one thing I do is first launch kodi. I have upnp/dnla and airplay playback enabled in kodi in its settings. Then I open the game and turn down the in-game music. I can then use doubletwist, a music app on my phone, to stream music to kodi over dnla (it can also use airplay). That way I can set up my own playlists of my own music for particular games or individual missions within them.

I found what I thought was a good solution to traveling with these external drives for steam deck (sdxcs formatted in ext4 in usb adapters). I don't want them to bounce around too much in my journeys and they're also small and easy to lose. So I ordered some cheapo gameboy advance cartridge cases from ebay and cut off sections from an Amazon prime bubble envelope to put inside the cases. With the additional layer of padding, the sdxcs in usbs stay in place. After that it was a matter of labeling each box with the name of the sdxc inside.

Saw Resident Evil Death Island. It was set after RE5 and RE6. I have to say I was entertained by the film. It's not high art and I didn't go in expecting it to be. One thing I really liked was how so many of the game characters got together in one place it was like a high school reunion but with zombies and lickers. It follows the usual RE formula but since it works, why change it?
The computer graphics in this production were very pleasing to the eye and I had fun watching it in the dark. The ENG only voice acting was pretty bad but that worked to the betterment of the rather campy story.
I would not recommend this to normies but for RE fans, it's a "put it in the queue of stuff to watch".

update: the multiple external sdxc experiment for the deck is a success . . . mostly. The deck seems happier with only one external sdxc in a usb adapter at a time in the hub but that's okay. It still allows me more space for gaming while keeping the main/core sdxc in the deck.

Set this up with Steam Rom manager this morning. I love the first three Silent Hill games and I don't really mind 0rigins though it's not as solid as 1, 2, or 3 in either gameplay or story.

@npub1xan…jlvy There was a Cthulhu Mythos-inspired kart racing game made by Nitroplus called Azathoth D Youto Saisoku Densetsu. Though it has some very cute lolis It's unfortunately not that great overall (it's well below Mario Kart or SRB2Kart in polish and track variety) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH9tmkjMxd4

If you like anime waifu fighters, this could be a good purchase. Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroes Infinite Duel is on sale on steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/482450/Nitroplus_Blasterz_Heroines_Infinite_Duel/ ) . It's going for about 5 bucks, which is not bad at all.
Saber is one of the playable waifus in it and they also have Heart from Arcana Heart and Homura from Senran Kagura appear in the game. ProtonDB tells me that it runs fine on the deck ( https://www.protondb.com/app/482450 )

@npub1fgj…vhdl I recently came across this on amazon which has some sd card readers built right in. I'm probably going to set up another sandisk usb sdxc reader + card and then get this dock so I can add another two more cards to it for a grand total of 4 external sdxcs.
The tutorial doesn't tell you that you can leave nano by pressing ctrl + x after being prompted to save. That's something I learned in the process of getting used to linux (and I have a long way to go).

Last night I used a tutorial for automounting a ssd to the steam deck* with something else - I got a sandisk usb 3.0 sdxc reader and added a relatively inexpensive teamgroup 512gb sdxc to it. I was able to format it in ext4 and alter nano so that it automounted with nofail. Then I created a steam library on it and began to install games onto it (most of the Yakuza titles, Sonic Frontiers, etc.)
It works fine and I don't see it since it's on the backside of the dock. I'm probably going to add another since I want enough space for all those Atelier games.
In the meantime I'm finally going to play Sonic Frontiers and clear Yakuza 0.
