Last night I used a tutorial for automounting a ssd to the steam deck* with something else - I got a sandisk usb 3.0 sdxc reader and added a relatively inexpensive teamgroup 512gb sdxc to it. I was able to format it in ext4 and alter nano so that it automounted with nofail. Then I created a steam library on it and began to install games onto it (most of the Yakuza titles, Sonic Frontiers, etc.)

It works fine and I don't see it since it's on the backside of the dock. I'm probably going to add another since I want enough space for all those Atelier games.
In the meantime I'm finally going to play Sonic Frontiers and clear Yakuza 0.
