I love the ease of the Aqua wallet. It’s my first recommendation for family members looking to keep a medium amount of spending money because it just works so well.
That being said, I don’t really see a point in using it if you run a lightning node since it’s more custodial and has slightly higher fees.

I ran the numbers a while back and it would at best break even, my other scenario is buying a cheaper regular space heater and saving the rest in BTC. With the current mining landscape you probably wouldn’t end up with any extra bitcoin. But it could be a fun learning opportunity, and contribute towards the decentralization of mining.

Yep, I keep a flyer on the fridge and try to encourage repeat guests to learn about Bitcoin. its surprising to me that no one so far has even entertained the idea for an extra 10% off.

-probably most difficult to setup
2) Strike
-centralized but free withdrawal to cold storage
-easy integration and use
-no server management
-settles in USD

Not entirely sure I agree that AI’s can’t hold private keys. From what I understand, even the creators of AI aren’t entirely sure about the nuances of how they work. If we don’t even understand how they “think”, it’s reasonable to believe they could hide information like a private key in a way we wouldn’t be able to figure out. Not saying they’re smart enough for that yet but it’s at least possible.

I can’t do a good football analogy unfortunately but from my understanding, ecash is most comparable to physical cash in use case. It is stored on your physical phone just like cash in your wallet, which means if you lose it there is no backup. You can use it offline and give it to another person through QR or by copying and pasting the transaction. Ecash transactions are completely private, but there is potential to leak data when you transfer out over lightning just like if you were to deposit cash to a bank. Also, just like you wouldn’t keep your life savings in your back pocket, you want to limit the amount you store in Ecash but it is a very convenient, private way to interact with BTC. As #Bitcoin trends towards full adoption it will no longer be the best investment.
Once it is universally accepted, it will continue to be the best store of value, but it will not give much additional purchasing power. There will be businesses that produce a positive sats flow and will provide a return for investors. The only difference is that the space will be much more competitive and returns will be lower (probably 2-4%) since there is no inflation.
I believe #Bitcoin will continue to be the best investment until it reaches full adoption, and then productive businesses will begin to stand out as better (and riskier) investments. At that point, one could store retirement savings in Bitcoin and invest a small portion that they are willing to lose into businesses.

Bitcoin solves a problem that’s as old as humanity itself. It solves the problem of money.
Gold was the best money for most of history because it was scarce, and durable. People traded it not for what they could make with it but for its monetary properties.
Humans solved golds problem of portability and disability with paper derivatives and central banking and, as a result, nobody uses gold as a medium of exchange anymore.
Unfortunately, with centralized control comes the cost of scarcity since more paper can be printed. Bitcoin solves the problems of fiat scarcity and centralization while improving the benefits of portability and divisibility.
This is the value proposition of bitcoin and the early adopters that recognize this will have increased risk (volatility) but with higher potential reward. The late adopters will have no risk but will see smaller returns.
