So as a busy la-gente level judge I have presided over a good number of cases where non-lawyers represent themselves.
It is sometimes chaotic and inappropriate. Only sometimes. Most people show respect & decorum and they follow procedure when it is explained. Very few times, there was outright crazy train disaster.
Those felt like this Trump defense case. And he has a stable of lawyers, witnesses who themselves are lawyers.
