This gives an insteresting attack vector I hadn't previously thought of - instead of stealing the victim's data, insert doctored screenshots and OCR database history to make it look as if the victim was committing illegal activities. Then, call in the cops, who confiscate the computer, check Recall, and oh my goodness, a felon has been found!

And if I could keep the playlist open in the background somehow, almost as if in a "tab" of some kind, that would also be excellent. I frequently want to explore an artist I find in a playlist, but not lose my playlist position to do so.

I wanna surface this to my main timeline because it's kinda important to say out loud from time to time:
Businesses do NOT "have to" focus exclusively on their return to shareholders. Not legally, not morally.
That is the misguided OPINION of a 1970 essay by Milton Friedman, and the fact that everyone seemed to just hop on board that opinion is a significant reason why we switched gears into hyper-hell-capitaliam since then.
Push back on this every time you see it.

And then we add all these status channels populated by robots that have effectively zero incremental cost to write to, but all the humans in the room have a non-zero cost to read. It's a near-infinite inefficiency!

@npub15zu…s7lx @npub1lsl…9c2x My point is that he frames fear of AI as an illegitimate fear. We're at a point where this is about to rewrite society in tremendously harmful ways, without drastic intervention. The hype train behind AI is MASSIVE, and investors love it and do not care what it will do people's careers or entire fields of human endeavor. The only way to stop or slow that train is if AI is perceived to be utterly, completely toxic.

@npub15zu…s7lx This article sucks. There are very real and legitimate reasons to be concerned about generative AI, but this article never even goes into that. It just paints the upset parties as idiot over-reactionaries and goes hard with the "won't someone PLEASE think of the (AI) children?" tone.
A better, more-curious article would go a step further and ask WHY people were getting upset, the but the author never bothers.
