Can you think of an emotion or mental state where somome will tend to avoid pleasure? Is there such thing as a kind of ascetic drive?
I'm thinking there is something missing where you have emotions that drive one both away from (e.g. fear, lain) and toward (e.g. anger) negative stimuli but I van only thing kf emotions or mental states that drive us towards positive stmuli (e.g. desire). Maybe satiation counts? What else could?

In reference to Sweden, the law is called Totalförsvarsplikt. I wonder how many other countries have something like that.
Ukraine is the opposite, barring all men 18 to 60 from leaving the country, and they're even trying to get European authorities to help them enforce it, seeking men who already live abroad as well as dropping the age ranges. Women with certain specific educations are supposed to register, but it's mostly been ignored or postponed.

I don't know anything about ships, but it's definitely true any time war breaks out. In some countries, like Ukraine, it's even the law. Sweden is a good counter-example though where we actually have relative equality on that front.

I do think it's ad hominem unless you can show that the theories themselves are wrong. Hume said true things, regardless if he was generally confused or confused in other specific domains. Many mathematicians believe in nonsense, but their proofs stand for themselves. If a Nazi discovered the moon, it'd still be there. Trump says things that are true too, despite how incredibly poorly and how evil he is. This is why we have to engage with the propositions and theories per se.

I don't have an inside view from your academia, so I can't really comment on that, but what I see online is people trying to dismiss the theses of such people based on their moral character and this is unacceptable to me. Often they try to say someone who isn't immoral said the same thing, but this is rarely true. Kant, Heidegger and Hume are good examples; Hume for me personally since I both dislike him but find useful what he said. 1/2

I'm not sure "I have no idea what they're talking about" is a weak denial, but I think the diplomatic angle is possible. Then again, I've never seen Trump not be "aggressive and confrontational" so I don't know what all of this is supposed t mean. Was what we saw on TV the other day also something they would call "horrendous"? I would. LLaMa was pretty good if I just asked it like for options for how to do something. It was pretty methodical, whereas Qwen (even 14B) was more sloppy and incomplete. I haven't tried Qwen2.5-coder yet though.
So you're actually integrating it into projects? I'm just playing around so far.

So I loaded Qwen2.5 7B and 14B this morning. 7B seems faster than LLaMa 3.1 8B (is that a thing?) and uses the same amount of RAM. Doesn't spin up my fans as soon for some reason. I don't like the answers about JS as much but I haven't tested it a lot. 14B barely runs on my computer, putting other things into swap. The answers are better but not that much better. I'm not really sure how I could test the difference.
This is all on CPU by the way.
