Are we sure the numbers are right?
At a very rough guess, that would mean an *average* of close to 500 people witness each mass shooting
Newspapers are not known for their ability to report data accurately and "mass shooting" covers a lot of smaller events (four victims or more) often in domestic settings - seems unlikely
(Totally accept that much of USA society is violent, trigger happy, and dysfunctional though)

Agree, #Starmers repetition of "change" during the election was because Labour, tory, and lib-dems are widely seen as "stale and failed"
When #labour fail to deliver any meaningful change, it will be #reform that benefit (and we all suffer)
The #greens policies are generally good and popular (nationalisation of water etc) they were second place in 40 seats and recent polling is good, I think they are best placed to challenge from the left for now

I have only just woke up, looking at the coverage on news sites
Whats going on? Reading between the lines it looks like its not nearly as bad as predicted, thankfully
Some of the US sources have started quoting windspeed in kilometres now - that cant be normal - just looking for big numbers and unwilling to row-back?
If it has been less catastrophic than predicted, thats clearly fantastic - but really dangerous for next time when the warnings get ignored

#Starmer has systematically burnt bridges with so many people and groups
At the next election, Being "not the tories", after years of largely " being tories" wont help much
On the upside, #theGreens came second in more than 40 constituencies in the election and their support has increased since in local elections

#Starmer's penchant for accepting gifts is such a stupid, unnecessary, self-inflicted injury - smacks of arrogance, greed and complicity
The other explanation is that he is so entralled by business donors and so cowering and craven that he doesnt dare rebuff any of their "generous donations"

Labour are telling us the truth?
Recently #Starmer in his plans for the NHS said there were 3 options
If I recall corrctly they were
1)Do nothing
2)Workng people pay more tax
3)"reform" the NHS
He completely failed to mention another option - the wealthiest pay more rather than "working people" and the NHS continues on the pre-lansley model that delivered probably the most cost efficient health service in the world

I only saw them on old buildings where the roof had been undisturbed
Often pitched roofs of old hand-made clay tiles (very prevalent in southern england as clay was local and slate wasnt) or roofs of stone flags
House Leeks manage to hang on and thrive where local sedum varieties would get pushed off by rain or snow - sedum tended to grow only where it could be supported by the house leeks, or in blocked gutters i think the sedum was a opportunistic arrival

They look like what i knew as a child as "house leeks"
Local folklore (south UK) was that they prevent lightning strikes if growing on the roof
"Hens and chicks" is cuter though and "leeks" never made much sense to me
EDIT: resolved my own 40+year confusion:
