Are we sure the numbers are right?
At a very rough guess, that would mean an *average* of close to 500 people witness each mass shooting
Newspapers are not known for their ability to report data accurately and "mass shooting" covers a lot of smaller events (four victims or more) often in domestic settings - seems unlikely
(Totally accept that much of USA society is violent, trigger happy, and dysfunctional though)
