there's already a pull request (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/27050) to disable the download of those when a block is assumed valid. Just run your node in prune mode. also lukedashjr posted a "hacky" patch. they currently occupy 30% of block space. quite a number.

yeah, I disagree with the conclusion too. My ideal future would be a rise of countries adopting a bitcoin standard. They would cooperate, trade and avoid unnecessary wars. Their populi would thrive under the distributed efficiency gains (deflation). And China under it's current system could not participate.

you can filter and prune on your own node all you like. If you think it through inscriptions are less resource-intense than blocks full of transactions since low-bandwidth nodes block large witnesses thus doing less computation, needing less bandwidth and less storage. So far inscriptions have guranteed full blocks and a constant fee revenue (>2.5 BTC).

full nodes can prune already and will soon be able to ignore them completely. I'm not sure what everyone is getting angry about. Noticing that blocks are always full nowadays. Inscriptions account for 15% of block space. This might seem bad and first glance but might even reduce the load for full nodes.

again: full nodes can just delete the seg wit data. You don't have to store illegal data or inscriptions. You can prune.
And if more people run full nodes, fees rise, a narrative shift occurs and less speculative investments into Altcoins happen happen you win too.

yes, I thought so too. A velocity will be key. Maybe it would centralise in the hands of the few who actively post. But this would encourage less active users to engage themselves and earn sats. Velocity could be even higher.
If you want a glimps of send upvotes to vote you could check stacker.news. They already implanted a form of zaps and redistribute a part of the sats to active users. Interesting concept nostr devs should look into.
