Now if only I can convince someone to add a new gamepad spec for modern controllers. I figure 4 16bit axes and a 16bit button state register starting at a generally unused address. Ngl I'm convinced it would be a moral act for Biden to not only use the ruling to eliminate the entire Trump family, but also the Scotus members responsible for him having that ability and refilling those positions with his own picks. You could make an association so that languages that don't use the latin alphabet use different font files. Then just reload the font files when you load the language file. Your game is still limited to 256 glyphs but most writing systems will only need a few dozen glyphs anyways. Especially if you make your print routine support a special character (ie <32) that will go backwards one glyph so as to allow layering glyphs.

String tables really do make life easier. Then you can just load a string table file and request an index. Thus supporting languages is as easy as a file suffix.

So I was not having a lot of luck making sense of Aseprite's tutorials (I'll keep at it but this could take me some time to gronk) so I made a Python3 script to perform it on a command line at least.

Yeah, ok I get that. Well if you ever need quick scripts like that feel free to bug me. I either enjoy learning something new or have done it so many times that the core script only takes me like 10 minutes but then I spend 4 hours tweaking unnecessary features. XD

I'm surprised you didn't whip up a quick program or script that took a PNG and spat out a binary lump. Just requires you lay out the image in a fixed fashion which it looks like you already did.
