If I appear at times to some to be opposed to so-called #renewable #power (which isn't "renewable" in any meaningful sense of the word; it relies entirely on non-renewable resources), it is because I fully understand how this #technology works, and in no way is it an equal replacement for fossil fuel power generation, for a variety of hard scientific factual and practical reasons. Our first and final approach must be #conservation, not #consumption.

It's been a long time since I've participated in the community, but I watched a video today of someone's very #TinyHouse and it got me thinking about it again.
Here's the thing: there are very few people for whom a #THoW actually makes rational sense, because they are the most inefficient use of land and #housing materials possible.
Most people should be in #multiunit #MixedUse #midrise #apartment #buildings, but for some people, THoWs can literally be life savers. #urbanism #architecture

I've never thought of stuffing a pumpkin, before, but this is a great idea for Autumn/Winter food. The original recipe was vegan, and I am very much not, so I will stuff it with ground turkey or pork, and probably use a kabocha, instead of a regular pumpkin. I don't eat a lot of squashes, but I know I like kabocha.

I tried a packet of the Starkist Beef Creations Sloppy Joe to see if it might be good for #backpacking #camping #trekking #food, and it tastes good enough.
There's not a lot in the packet, enough for one small sandwich. It's a little on the runny side, as you might expect. Obviously, it's too heavy for long distances, but it should be fine for short trips.

All the mobile games I used to enjoy playing have shut down this year. The only video game I have on my PC is the Halo Master Chief Collection, and I am stuck on one part I think it's in Halo 2(?) that I can't get past despite trying dozens of times. I got discouraged and stopped playing it altogether months ago. I need a new PC game. Maybe I will finally buy Diablo III, 12 years after it was released.

I was very happy that the Dietz & Watson #bratwurst was on sale the other day, because it's become almost impossible to find real German-style bratwurst in America, outside of an Aldi. Most bratwurst in America is the style developed in the Upper Midwest, particularly in Wisconsin, as epitomized by the Johnsonville company.
Don't get me wrong, I love American bratwurst, too, but it's very different to the German bratwurst I grew up with in a #German family, in NYC. #food #cooking

If there is one thing I have noticed about the #bicycle #cycling #ebike #fediverse, it's that the majority of posts about active mobility are coming from people with very expensive rides. I see a lot of $3000+ USD bicycles, and not a lot of sub-$1500 bicycles.
I ride a RadPowerBikes RadMission that cost me $1200 (and was on sale for $500 after). It's been my primary transportation for the past 2 years, and I've been car-free for almost 3 years, now. I can't afford these luxury European brands.
