Yes, being a victim is important in forming the out group and bonding.
However, being “a victim because Substack closed my account” is a far smaller part of recruitment than Substack suggesting “readers like you also read”, or a donation site collecting money, or YouTube auto playing a video, etc, etc.
Stormfront, 8chan, Kiwifarms, no longer recruit fascism. Why? Because they got shut down.
That’s pretty good!
It’s also good to not wave, “read also” banners in front of viewers!

There’s some technical term such as “load coupled” which describes the way solar panels are collecting the most power when air conditioners need the most power.
It’s beautiful.

My favourite registrar closed down and while doing the migration I sadly had to let some go.
Re-registration was spread throughout the year on various 1-24 month terms, but having to move and pay for them all in a short space of time? Nah.
I realised I was never going to use ◾️◾️.nz or my other genius projects that I hadn’t spent any time on.

Websites that look spammy but demand an email address for access.
The $ is how much I’m buying or selling from them.
If it’s one of those “sign up for newsletter” or “sign up for forum” then they go on the sub domain.
My bank knows my actual domain.

I’ve had the same setup for nearly 2 decades. Catch all subdomain.
Problem is it’s hard to be anonymous when the domain has my name in it. secretanon@DaveLane? Hmm! 🧐
I had a perfectly generic domain, from a generic company that had closed and let expire. It was great!
Just recently I caught another company selling my details, or maybe a staff member has a side business stealing customer information? It’s from an airline I flew in 2014 or something.

Ugh. I would often have deliverability problems with hosted Microsoft Outlook / Hotmail where email would go into the bin.
Was SPF wrong? No. Was DKIM missing? No. Is the chicken liver spotty? No, and it shouldn’t matter, but this is one of the biggest MX providers on the internet.
It’s a full time job dealing with that. It’s costs being pushed onto me because spammers have made these sorts of filters a requirement and then they’re poorly tuned.

This has been bugging me while I’ve watched broadcast TV. Adverts are either for booze, electricity, or giant trucks.
They’re shown on car free roads (highly unrealistic) and they’re all way too big. Nothing about reasonably sized cars.
Even Nissan is advertising their truck and doesn’t say anything about the LEAF.
Nissan made a great start two decades ago with LEAF. One small new release. Where’s the improvements and advertising for them?

My partner was trying to show me a letter she was drafting on her computer and pretty reliably every 5-10 seconds a new alert would pop up and cover the screen.
“Windows Defender has found no threats”
“Use Edge as your default browser”
“Buy a subscription to Office”
Absolute garbage. Then it wasn’t clear how to get Windows into “shut the hell up” mode because they’ve sneakily moved that about 3 levels deep in the overflow menu “.

Should be good wiring in the wall already.
The sparkie who did mine had a look at my circuit breakers and my list of the other load in the circuit then put in the socket. Only the second or third one, but it’s all in a day’s work. They should all be competent enough unless it’s some sort of fancy Solar inter tie thingamajig with smarty pants monitoring.
I can’t recommend my sparkie to you because 12 hours and a ferry of travel time is silly.

I’d argue that herd sizes are one step removed.
When the bank manager pushed a farm consultant at the farmer they’re obliged to listen and that advice often includes, “more cows, buy in feed, more lending from the bank”.
Banks need to take the blame here, not grinding up the farmers who are stuck in the middle.

People get in on that stuff, believe they’re hard done by, drive their Ute poorly, and then vote for National. Frankly it’s embarrassing but it makes logical sense based on what those media outlets push at you continually.

Huh that is unusual.
When a local bowling green was built over the soil was removed to a depth of several meters and replaced with clean fill!
Down at the Chateu the old bowling green there has slowly been replaced with quite a diverse mix of local grasses and mosses.

Kind of a sad tale from a tradie: people he used to work with before at a factory keep working in factories and warehouses because they didn’t think they’re worth doing better or getting a better job. Straight from school into a warehouse. I guess nobody inspired them to aspire to better?

I just got out of the bush after volunteering for a project that’s largely funded by DoC. National Party proposing to cut their funding is going to endanger our bush even more than it already is. This is rubbish. National Party can go jump in a lake (full of didymo).

Interesting comparison.
I got a cup lid from a local store that claimed in the large print to be compostable but in the fine print ripped it away by saying “only commercially composting”.
I’ve thrown a few into the compost over the years and they reappear mostly undamaged like the plastic apple stickers, avocado skins, and too large sticks that have also made their way into the pile.
