AWIS described the purpose of the pool as follows:

“This week, the former head of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), David #Omand, came out in support of Keir Starmer’s national security programme.
Omand was the director of Britain’s largest spy agency between 1996 and 1997, before taking up a post as Cabinet Office security and intelligence co-ordinator in 2002.
In 2003, Omand was among those to decide that Dr David #Kelly should be pursued for talking to the media about the UK government’s dodgy dossier on Iraq’s non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
The following year, he recommended that John #Scarlett, who promoted the Iraqi WMD disinformation campaign, be appointed as head of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (#SIS or #MI6).
Since serving in government, Omand has worked for a number of arms companies including #Babcock International and #Leonardo-Finmeccanica, both of which are currently supplying Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza.
‘Labour’s announcement of a triple-lock on our nuclear deterrent indicates that we can in future trust the party to stick to serious defence policy’, Omand wrote this week in the Daily Telegraph.
This is a remarkable endorsement, particularly given how Britain’s acting and former intelligence chiefs briefed against former Labour party leader Jeremy #Corbyn in the run-up to the 2019 general election.
As Declassified found at the time, officials in the UK and military establishment were the sources for at least 34 major national media stories that cast Corbyn as a danger to British security.
One of those was Sir Richard #Dearlove, the former head of MI6, who wrote an article on the eve of the general election under the headline: ‘Jeremy Corbyn is a danger to this nation. At MI6, which I once led, he wouldn’t clear the security vetting’.
Unlike Corbyn, Starmer has long standing links with Britain’s intelligence community.
In 2013, as Director of Public Prosecutions, Starmer attended MI5 chief Jonathan #Evans’ leaving party, just one year after he had cleared the security service from prosecution over its role in #CIA torture operations.”

Sadly, it would seem that the “powers that be” haven’t been listening to too many of the “other options” that countless activists have using to try sad get them to change their ways so, in light of the urgent need to change course on issues like the climate crisis, voices are being raised which suggest we may have arrived at the point where violence, not against people but against machines and/or property (ie sabotage) is the only way they *will* listen!

“Starvation War Crimes Complaint against UK Ministers submitted to Scotland Yard expanding suspects list to 5 senior British ministers”

“The complaint builds on an initial complaint submitted to Scotland Yard on 12th January 2024, which named four British government ministers for alleged complicity and criminal responsibility in Israeli war crimes. This latest submission reiterates their alleged complicity, but also includes a fifth senior government minister as an alleged perpetrator of these crimes.
The alleged criminal acts are prosecutable in the United Kingdom and will now be considered by Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Investigation Team before a decision is made by them whether to open a formal criminal investigation, which could see alleged perpetrators questioned, arrested and prosecuted.”

The first female Black MP, Diane #Abbott who has worked for her constituents for 37 years, has been prevented - on Keir Starmer’s instruction - from standing again in #Election2024!
Imo, just as with Corbyn, #Labour has been working to “destroy her” as a person in order to force her out of the party! Even though we now know that the NEC investigation was concluded in December 2023, she stood firm for 10+ months, long after having apologised for her Observer letter and undertaking an online “Anti-Semitism” course as directed by the NEC!
It reminds me, if I needed reminding, of one of the many damning conclusions of the #Forde Report into the #ItWasAScam Antisemitism “crisis” in the @npub1tcg…x3ra Party!
Forde noted that there is an abhorrent “hierarchy of racism” in Labour which prioritises Antisemitism over other abuse directed at other racial minorities, especially members of Black and Asian communities! Abbott and other ethnic minority MPs have suffered horrendous racial abuse from within the Party itself!
Out political system is totally racist, corrupt and broken! Both the Tory and Labour parties have come to the end of the road and need to be swept aside!
