People are currently infatuated with Micro Strategy / MSTR "because it is a 1.5 leverage play on bitcoin", and are in (deserved) admiration of @npub15dq…lm5m for beating the S&P 500 so convincingly.
I know people close to me who have worked hard and saved bitcoin, but are now being tempted to exchange BTC for MSTR, spurred on by influencers like American @npub1rtl…jtfs (I'm a fan) and his latest strong endorsement.
But, MSTR is nothing like BTC. You sell 1 BTC and buy the equivalent value MSTR. You now own a security that is holding ~0.35 BTC on your behalf. The 'BTC yield' isn't yield on your 1 BTC. It is growing the 0.35 BTC up a little higher each year, but nowhere near the original 1 BTC you had.
Yes, I understand Micro Strategy is offering a service that is of value "like an oil company" (see latest Micro Strategy Earnings Call) and therefore trades at a premium. But this is pure speculation just like buying any other company share. The calculation is whether MSTR will generate more value with his company on the 0.65 BTC (the non-BTC treasury part of your 1 BTC investment) than holding the 0.65 BTC would. And in Saylor's own words about other companies, that means MSTR needs to compound more than 29% a year going forwards in terms of company value. That's quite a hurdle - one that very few companies in history have achieved over the long term.
There are good arguments on both sides regarding MSTR, the value the company provides and therefore its premium.
BUT BEFORE SELLING THE SCARCEST FINANCIAL ASSET on earth, one with no counterparty or company director risk, for a speculative asset, one should just THINK VERY HARD.
You may never be able to get the BTC you sold back again.

Liquid is a definite yes, because it solves problems that most Fedimints don't, yet.
Fedimints and eCash mints are very important for bitcoin's scalability and privacy, etc. But a lot of trust is involved for eCash, with a single entity being able to rug pull you. Fedimints spread the trust across multiple entities that need to collude to rug pull you.
But the issue is that currently Fedimints are difficult to persuade people to trust and use. For instance, if a local bitcoin meetup group sets up a Fedimint, how does a newcomer to the group know that the signers of the mint are not all friends that are colluding with each other?
Liquid solves this problem by federating the signing trust across well-trusted companies (see attached image). The likelihood of 11 of these companies colluding is extremely small. They all have reputations built with much work, that they do not want to lose. And a company is less likely than an individual to commit fraud on this scale, as they have to avoid internal whistle-blowing, and are more easily held to account by the justice system.

Because if they could, they wouldn't be leftists. In fact, many people can, and therefore are not leftists, so leftists are really just the group of people who are self-selected for not being able to figure this out.
This is why they can, without blushing, describe "reusable space launch capability" as "unnecessary wealth".
They don't understand that if you took every share of SpaceX away from Elon Musk, and all the other shareholders, it would still be valued at 200 billion dollars (or whatever it is on the day you are reading this), but it would not magically transform into 200 billion one-dollar bills that you could give to left-wing journalists to buy more Funko Pops with. It would still be a bunch of factories, and designs, and offices, and employment contracts, and rocket engines, and stuff.
The reality is that the earn-spend-consume model of money that retarded leftist commie journos are familiar with has an upper limit. Once you've spent on much on yourself as you want, a ceiling which varies depending on your character, you need a new source of meaning and purpose in life.
You need to develop different ambitions.
Then your spending becomes not about what you want to have, but what you want to create. You build the things you want to see in the world.
This is where money becomes wealth. Money is used to buy things. Wealth is used to build things.
When you create something that a lot of people care about, it's valued at a huge amount of money, because money is a measure of fucks given.
So maybe, when you have enough money to buy a mansion and a yacht, you decide that what you really want is "reusable space launch capability", because you're a nerd who reads science fiction, and so you think it's a kind of dumb idea for humanity to spend all its time on one tiny dust speck in an infinite universe.
So you buy some computers and you hire some dudes who are good at designing things on computers, and then you buy some metal, and hire some dudes who are good at cutting metal and sticking it together, and pretty soon you're the proud owner of whole bunch of stuff.... computers and factories and tanks full of liquid oxygen and launch pads and most importantly, rocket boosters.
And no Funko Pops. Not a single one.
Now, it's worth more money than you started with, because the people who guess the value of things (it's called a "stock market") are starting to agree that this was maybe a pretty good idea.
So, on paper, you're richer than you ever were. But that's your not bank account, or your Funko Pop collection. That's the fact that you now control humanity's effort to leave the gravity well. And you control it because you built it in the first place.
Wealth inequality is a measure of technological progress.
It doesn't exist in low-tech societies where everyone is chasing antelope with a throwing stick and a stone-tipped spear. Because no one invents anything and there's nothing to own.
And it peaks in high-tech societies where enterprising people create entire economies ex nihilo by investing in a wild idea. Because things are being invented and people give a fuck about them, and so the innovators have a much higher net worth than the people who sit around eating processed snack foods and shopping for Funko Pops on the internet.
Reducing wealth inequality is a disaster, and typically requires one. If you reduce wealth inequality in a free market, you are either outright destroying growth enterprises, or transferring control of them to non-producers.
Which is what leftists really are. Useless journo flacks and cloistered academics who want to tear down the engines of tech innovation so they can buy more middle class consumer goods, until they tear down the engines that produce those, too.
The most important task in all of economics is keeping people who don't get shit done out of the way of people who do.
Leave humanity's orbital launch capability alone, Zaid.

I find bitcoin's adherence to the Power Law fascinating, and for me it has become my favoured price model. It is so beautifully simple, with only one input variable: time.
I built this Bitcoin Power Law web page because the other couple out there didn't allow me to do what I wanted:
- To choose a date (e.g. your retirement, or a major purchase goal), and to see where price might be. Not only the fair price, but perhaps more importantly, the floor price below which bitcoin should never go under again.
- To choose a price (e.g. $1m), and to see the probable date (when fair price reaches the price) and very high probable date (when bottom price reaches it).
- To remind me to stop making too emotionally fantastical price predictions whenever price takes off on one of its major spurts, or I read some ultra-bullish article.
And more importantly, just to be able to show the chart while talking to a noob, with price indisputably sloping from bottom left to top right. Message: it's not too high to buy ;)
Of course, models are not guarantees. They all have their flaws, and the obvious one in this case is the model does not take into account the 4 year halving cycle to refine its price predictions.
But I believe there is less likelihood of this stock-to-flow cycle repeating indefinitely (as the halving becomes a less and less significant part of the bitcoin stock), than of nature's Power Law continuing as we go through the global adoption curve.

There has been a lot of recent discussion on the Power Law model (https://hcburger.com/blog/diminishingreturns) which gives a prediction of a range of bitcoin price against time.
It's noteworthy because price has continued to conform to the channel shown in the picture many years after the model was published - the red part of the line.

A model is just a model, and they can break. The log range used in these types of models is huge, so of course they are anyway useless as trading or timing tools. And as many people have pointed out, these chart models cannot take into account the real world fundamentals, such as the recent launch of the ETFs.
But there is still signal in these charts:
- we can expect ever increasing returns
- returns are a multiple of adoption increase (e.g. 10X adoption = 100X price)
- those returns are DIMINISHING rather than exponential.
You don't necessarily need a Power Law chart to work those things out, but the chart verifies the logic, and is currently the best model when correlating price against time. I don't suggest anyone (seriously) predicts price against time, because it will make you look like a fool.
But it is fun. And it is good marketing for bitcoin, which brings new adoption - and that is good.

It's so tiring trying to help loved ones.
When you gently show them all the reasons that bitcoin is the apex store of value, why do they always choose to base their thinking as if they bought the ATH and sold at the bottom?
A family member just sent me this even though they are currently up 7X on their first (and only) small allocation to bitcoin:

They say Bitcoin is for criminals.
And yet I have received at least five of these Class Action letters because the fiat banks have provably continually committed financial crimes (covering currency, metals, commodity and treasury markets).
But because the banks and lawyers control clown world for their own benefit, the plaintiffs (in this case traders, of which I was one) only get paid if they provide copies of all broker statements from 2005 to 2011. Statements required from 18 years ago! In the UK people only generally hold statements for seven years, because that is what is required by tax law.
Very convenient for the banks that it has it taken so many years after the crimes were known for the class actions to be brought. And imagine what proportion of the settlement will go to the lawyers for so many years of hard work.

Fiat money - the idea that we can and should create money from thin air - is simply saying, "I know better than the market how to allocate money", which is to say to know better than everyone else what is good and what is bad, what is valuable and what isn't, what is necessary and what is superfluous.
The question that the fiat system answers is the following: who is allowed to counterfeit currency, and how much? Further, who is allowed to have access to money, and who isn't?

The $2 trillion created overnight by the FED is $2,000,000,000,000.
That's $250 for every single human being on the planet. Created instantly by a few men in a room with no work done or anything of value created.
The truth is governments can produce unlimited money whenever they want. This costs us all later in the form of inflation, which makes us all poorer.
Since fiat money was created, taxes are no longer needed. In fact they are a charade, because even the highest taxes in history can no longer pay for the government's out of control spending. Taxes are retained simply as a means of controlling us.
Can you see yet, how much we are being played?

For people thinking their deposits are safe if they are below the #FDIC $250k limit...
You might get your money back, but are you prepared to wait for months or years before you have access to it again?
I had life savings in a bank in Europe in 2008 (IceSave) that was covered by the UK's version of FDIC, the FSCS. I felt safe. But when the bank ceased to function, I didn't get my money back from the FSCS for more than 2 years.
BTW, I also had to provide bank statements to prove to the FSCS that I had savings at the bank - good luck with that if it's a web based bank and their website "goes down". So I hope you're keeping records on your own computer and not just leaving them on your bank's website ;)

Have a name that is rare but believable: then you are BETTER hidden than when you're anon, AND you build trust. Even if you become famous, you could stand on a #bitcoin conference stage using your pseudonym.
