locking would be a nice safety mechanism esp if the transport isn't super locked down.
Unlike invoices I guess there'd need to be some kind of redeemer daemon that watches for new tokens and does the api call per token.
In this hypothetical, we'd add the pubkey and redeemerd address to the value block.

Anyway that's the summary of what I learned from trying out Greenlight. Definitely cool to be able to play with this stuff w/o having to run full bc and cln nodes.

In the end it looks like the greenlight node operator still needs to manage liquidity, and if you're going to create per-user nodes -- even with a bunch of whizzy automation that hides the underlying complexity -- this is a nonstarter for LSPs.
@npub1rcn…dw4h & @npub1fmx…wp74 talk about this on PI #184 and Roy from Breez was really the one to enlighten us all on the LSP view of things.

The python wrapper is pretty capable. I was able to create bech32 addresses, send payments to them from coinbase, open a channel with outbound liquidity to the PI node, and send some small payments to my alby wallet. I was also able to close the channel with PI, and withdraw remaining funds back to coinbase.
Docs were minimal but the community has a discord and telegram group which were helpful.

You hold all the secrets and can therefore reconstitute the node at any time. But it does not have a stable IP address, so you can't point other parties to it.
There are python & rust samples which just wrap cln's GRPC interface (https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning/blob/master/cln-grpc/proto/node.proto). I experimented with python.

Quick wrap up of my Greenlight experience for anyone interested. They make it pretty easy to spin up a core lightning node running on their infra, and interact with it via API. No need to wait for the full blockchain to sync, it just springs to life and is up to date or very close.
The node is ephemeral, appearing just-in-time when you want to interact with it and stays alive as long as you're using it, then goes off line to keep the infra costs low.

no need for struggle...my bone is connected to the rest of the network via a single channel ✂️! I understand that I'm general you want to be well connected, but from first principles if I am connected to a well-connected peer and there is sufficient liquidity in the channel, shouldn't it work?

Managed to make a few small payments from GL to GetAlby via the PC20 channel! And I can see the resulting shift in the balance of funds across the channel. In theory I should be able to now make small payments in the other direction but haven't been able to get that to work. Not sure why.
This is awesome learning. I'm getting to appreciate firsthand the reality of channel balancing, fees, and whatnot.
Still haven't figured out how to connect GL to an LSP. May or may not dig around in that.

fyi I can see the confirmed tx on block explorer, and PI's amboss page shows a channel 9h old. So I think we have an open channel! I tried generating an invoice in breez and paying from the GL node, but hitting a WIRE_UNKNOWN_NEXT_PEER error. Adventure continues...

got a success response after setting announce to true in the fund channel request, and by making the channel big enough that 1% of the channel met the minimum reserve. Think we're still waiting for the channel to commit.

Voltage docs: "In order to use the Voltage LSP, be sure you have SCID aliases and zero-conf enabled in your node"

Has anyone messed with Greenlight? I managed to create a node and an invoice using their python samples, but attempts to pay the invoice from breez fail with no route, and fail silently from getalby's web ui.
Digging further, the node doesn't appear to have any peers. I think this fits in the category of stuff that greenlight aims to abstract away from the developer. Any ideas for an LN n00b?
