@nprofile…38uv Yuuuuup. Not having touched an LGA socket in ages, I was very nervous setting up my new AM5 build over the holidays.
Wild instability, but when I went to check the socket, it was fine. A CPU swap resolved all my issues.
Only the *second* DOA processor I've encountered. 🫠

@nprofile…d6h6 Similar experience in Firefox on Windows 10, 11, and Linux for a while.
I rarely touch other browsers, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it feels objectively slow compared to most other sites.
I'm not pointing fingers, but I know of a search company who would be that petty.

@nprofile…cgs9 Absolutely agree with everything you're saying. Preservation and reverse engineering old software (and hardware) is SO important, but I feel like nobody wants to dump money into that sorta thing because of all the copyright/DMCA grey area nonsense.
There seriously needs to be exemptions for this sorta thing, like 60 years ago.

@nprofile…dun3 [ANECDOTAL] (no Plextor or Pioneer 'cause I'm a poor) Older (but still SATA) LiteOn and Sony drives tend to be very reliable for me. I don't often have issues with DVD media in particular, but when I do, these drives tend to do better than the others.
I use LGs all the time for Blu-Ray and other specialized dumping (MPF for CDs and odd media), but I wouldn't recommend them 'cause they tend to degrade faster than the others in my experience.
