Everyone's pretty excited about Affinity Suite kicking Adobe when they're down and I get it, it's a well, WELL deserved kick. In fact, it's a fraction of what they're owed
BUT
I would just like to urge some caution when throwing yourself into the waiting arms and walled gardens of the next regular for profit company
This IS good and all but if Affinity ever become as dominant as Adobe they WILL enshittify and screw you over just as much, if not more
This behaviour isn't exclusive to Adobe

Just in general, La Mulana, both 1 and 2 are a bit of a COMMITMENT. They demand a TON from the player
I'm here keeping a notebook and learning to read numbers like this is bloody Riven, all the while having to deal with some of the worlds' most diabolical level design and combat that is engineered with sadistic precision around your rather inflexible and stubby movement and attack mechanics. It KNOWS what its doing, and squeezes your throat with surgical glee
And that all sounds rough.... BUT

I love Qt but things are completely out of control. I took like half an hour today to just find the online installer for download. Ended up getting it from like the archive file server instead of actually finding it anywhere it's supposed to be
I guess they're trying hard to enshittify the open source option?

Following my current Metroidvania trend from Astalon as I'm not necessarily keen on becoming good enough at fighting to beat Boss Rush mode, I've rummaged the pile and ended up giving Alwa's Awakening a second try
I started this way back but ended up quitting fairly early, not sure why. Going through it now, it's not bad, even if Astalon is an unfairly hard act to follow. It's more invested in its retro roots tho, exemplified they actually put out a NES version you need an emulator to play[+1]

Woot, there we go, with VR done again, my most recent "The Room journey" is done.
The Room VR still easily the best in the series. I remember not jiving with 4 the first time around but these days I think it's up there with 3, vying for top spot among the Flat Screen Rooms.
2 and 1 follow in that order. They're all great but the series has, for sure, evolved in healthy ways as time went on

So, the same variable assigned to -3.8 reads, when assigned to a float

So the Bluetooth controller on my gaming PC just stopped showing up in bluetoothctl and etc.... If I try to usbreset it, that just hangs instead....

It's frustratingly hard to reconcile the fact that several of their games were just massive parts of my teens with knowing how the people who made them were u.u

But no wonder it's gone since memory management in C++ is really all about RAII instead

More than the one place where I read a bunch of things, I like using RSS as a "let me know when there's something new from X" and it fits this perfectly. Sits on my systray and beeps and tags the icon when one of my feeds has new content so I can check it out.
This was... surprisingly not a feature in everything else I looked at O.o

Man, the Internets, and specifically Web 2.0, REALLY did a number on the desktop application space, innit?
Today I found out not only Clementine, the music player, has been dead for years (forked into Strawberry, tho) but also Amarok seems to be gone for a couple years.
A while back I struggled to find something as simple as an RSS reader that would sit on the systray and notify me (thank you QuiteRSS)
And today, same deal looking for a calendar app. Ended up paying EUR10 for Rainlendar
