The more I look into MCPs as they are being build right now the more it reminds me of the time people thought giving everyone a user on a production database for queries was a good idea.
This is IMHO not a flaw of MCP, but current implementations.
It also doesn’t help that there’s an insistence on OAuth 2.1 for HTTP accessed MCPs in the spec which devs aren’t necessarily familiar with (hey SSO tax) and adds additional complexity. #llm #ai

One week ago we migrated 21 people from Matrix to @nprofile…g4yp and it has been a pretty good experience.
Not everything is working flawlessly but that also wasn’t expect. Plus we didn’t do a lot of debugging so I cannot rule out user error yet.

We are testing #deltachat with 8 users since Friday with a self hosted server.
The experience is excellent and people are happy, especially with secondary device setup.
So far we ran into a few small issues.
- one user had pushes on one device delayed (its push. Remember apples guarantees on delivery…)
- a gif didn’t post but only the first frame (iOS)
- taking a photo doesn’t add it to the message, using the gallery works (Android)

[Salty rant incoming]
Apples amazing “select a browser” UI the EU forced on us was the reason my dad had Firefox installed and set as default, passwords not auto filling and him being confused why he cannot sign in to Sky using a QR code as he’s used to.
I have not seen a single good thing come out of this stupid legislation but for a handful of tech savvy people who bought devices tied to an ecosystem they don’t want or like.

@nprofile…m624 there was something wrong with external SSO for a long time so I had a different calendar on two iOS and two macOS devices.
Nuked exchange from all devices as I missed more meetings than just checking in the morning and setting two alarms. Glad only one client uses Office365. Two would be the end of me.

@nprofile…m624 my favourite bug that this brought us is that outlook logs me out of the web interface every few hours telling me “your account is locked” till I hit refresh and authenticate via SSO again.

Construction now cut our neighbors Internet cable. They are on a roll. Two times Internet, one time power within three weeks.
They didn’t have this kind of problem in the newer parts of our town where cabling actually follows code.
Guess my work day starts with deploying our emergency LTE router again.
In three years since buying the router it was useful four times. Not once to us :D

@nprofile…m624 it feels like Django and Rails sit right in the middle between two generations.
One who started their career with J2EE and still uses it longing for retirement and one that grew up in an ecosystem where a new “best, only use this” web framework is shipped every six to twelve month.
I can see why the later asks this question.
