Yeah, that is a feature not a bug. You can track institutions, banks and other stuff to know what they are doing. Mainly is difficult to lie you about their funds. But of you want privacy you can get it, as I said is not by default but there are options.
I'm not against Monero but it needs to find a better way to get traction.

It is not narrow thinking, it is how human works. If the value is getting down doesn't have attraction for the most people. I don't like that behaviour but it is the reality.
Exactly, but both concepts have relation. If there are a few number of users, privacy is difficult to get because is easier to track all transactions.
You are right, Bitcoin is not anonymous, is pseudonymous, for that reason you can check txs (what is great for commerce) and you have to take care about your privacy, it is not by default. But you can add other layers to get more privacy in top of using good behaviour on layer 1.

Defenderse uno mismo, a su familia, a sus propiedades, a su cultura, lengua y tradiciones es ser patriota. Defender una bandera, un Estado y una "cultura" impuesta desde arriba, es ser estatalista. La fidelidad al Estado es siempre opuesta a la fidelidad a uno mismo.

I just migrated my #bitcoin node from #Umbrel to #Start9 .
My first thoughts:
- Migration of your LN with your current settings is pretty neat.
- Start9 needs more work to have better options on network settings (clearnet, change IP from UI...). It will come next release. I guess.
- Start9 UI is still some buggy, works great but not perfect.
- Umbrel needs to add f***ing HTTPS, with that would be even better than Start9 for beginners or ppl want easy way.
- Start9 is better for security. They did a great job with TLS stuff.
- Neither of them are perfect to set up a simple service for friends/family or little bussines. They are close to reach that point but still need some improvements.
- As Bitcoin Community we have to support both projects and if you can use both to compare.
- Buy their hardware or send a donation. We need them.

En mi opinión, primero hace falta querer pensar de manera independiente y segundo, buscar herramientas que permitan tener una vía alternativa y que no te arrastre la deriva social en la que vives.
