Ran into no fewer than four different groups of men on off-road motorbikes, electric and petrol, who were ripping up footpaths and bridleways. The area around south east Sheffield is like Mad Max this evening 😔
Pedestrian gates not deterring them at all. We need to take them all out, because all it’s doing is saving lazy cops work.
Also urgently need a prohibition on motorised throttle-powered motorbikes, electric and otherwise.

“Duology”, I believe. The Lord of the Rings was originally going to be two films, but it was lengthened to three by request of the producers, though probably it made sense because the source material came in three books.
The Hobbit was also supposed to be two films, but it was lengthened to three for no reason other than studio greed.

On Monday, the Scottish NHS are going to revoke the right of trans people in Scotland to self-refer to their gender identity service. They will have to convince a GP to refer them.
No clinical reason has been given. No trans people have apparently been consulted. We only know because this information was leaked ahead of time.

I genuinely think that the reason that most people aren’t buying electric aren’t thinking about their daily needs - if that was the case, they’d all be in electric cars already. I think they’re thinking about the 200-300 mile journeys they do a handful of times a year and worry about recharging, and when you’re spending a lot of money on a car, you’re not in a mood to compromise.

Jumping in to say that I have a Golf GTE PHEV. I bought a charging system for my old house, but I haven’t got one installed yet in my new house and use a three-pin plug charger.
Although it does have a combustion engine, I do use the electric an awful lot, and the three-pin is fine. It takes about 2-3 hours to charge from empty, and that can get me into Sheffield and back.
Most people don’t need a full charge of their BEV every night.

Yes please! I’ve never used it before, and now that I’m planning on building a NAS, it was a vague idea to have convenient access to my favourite films and music.

Research for my current 🧠🌶️ project is paying off.
In September, a new case will go on sale which will allow me to take the power supply, the memory, and the ATX motherboard from my 2013 self-build gaming PC and turn it into a NAS.
It should make a good home server. Hoping to use it for storing backups on, and give Plex a try.

It’s been roughly a year since I found out that Mum was unwell. I had the phone call during June’s Front End Sheffield 2023. It’s now June’s Front End Sheffield for 2024.
It’s taken a while to register that I’m now a year into the timeline of grief.

Went to the Vagina Museum today and quibbled with the display of your book.
The reverse side of this is a satire of how cis and heteronormative archeologists misinterpret artefacts, and said something along the lines of “Christine was just an engineer”.
This side explains that you’ve never been an engineer!
But I couldn’t help pointing out that you’re a trained computer scientist and / or software engineer!
In any case, always like passing on snaps of the book in the wild 🙂

Honestly in terms of the general electorate, there’s no votes in anti-trans policies.
If there is political maths being done, it’s all about the influence to be gained among people who are active politically, both within parties and without.
Terfs are over-represented in political parties.

Honestly, money isn’t why they do it. If it was only money that people like Elon and Joanne wanted, we’d have never heard from them again. They only wanted more power and influence.
It’s what happens to people when all their most fabulous dreams come true, but they realise they still live in a world that they despise, and which hates them back in equal measure.
