But: it is next to impossible to keep in touch/see what you post unless you're on my server & it's very frustrating.
Meanwhile, on Bluesky I can create custom feeds &/or lists of anything: artists, specific ppl whose posts I want to see, publishers, etc.

Thank you to all the people who kept raving about #EVIL.
I started it & was unimpressed. I liked the premise, but it seemed like it was going to be another traditional, formulaic skeptic vs believer drama.
It was all of YOU insisting that it was great that kept me watching (grudgingly)... Until yes- it started to change into one of the weirdest, slightly unhinged, most creative and spooky, FUN shows that I've ever seen.

Hurricane Beryl is over, we survived & are fine. Some damage but nothing catastrophic. Gonna take a day or two for me to feel like my normal weird self, though, thanks to the stress, fear, anxiety, & lack of sleep.
And oh, yeah: because I get to reschedule a bunch of appointments scheduled for this week in and around Houston, which are all definitely not going to happen. Super fun thing to deal with, especially when you're autistic. 🫠

THE STRAY CAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SPAYED!
She is also negative for feline leukemia & HIV.
Now I'm really wondering if she is somebody's pet, but to me the evidence points to "no" because she & two other cats that HAVE to be from the same litter all roam around the neighborhood w no collars & at all hours... Two of them are in my backyard pretty much all the time.
Maybe they all got ditched when somebody moved? I dunno, but now I'm unsure about adopting her- I don't want to steal someone's pet...

We have had no power since last night when a freakishly strong storm came through. Last night we made do with lantern light, today we started the generator.
No telling when power is coming back since almost a million people here were affected & it's slowly getting restored/repaired, along with the tons of damage everywhere.

It's a weird thing to realize I can never be truly honest w my family because:
a) they view my (apt) observations about them as personal attacks
b) they speak of acceptance & claim unconditional love but have made it clear that I do not fit into their version of a Christian, straight, "normal" person
c) they can't grasp that my examination of them is never about judgment per se [due to THEIR default judging] but about navigating & being honest. They just don't like what I see.

I asked for my wisdom teeth and was refused, but was given the metal pins that were in my foot after an accident, so it's anyone's guess what they'll do... Imo, they're MINE so I am ENTITLED to them, lol. But they'll probably say no. 😡 Still gonna ask, though.

For anyone following my medical issues, it's confirmed: gallstones. I'll need to get my gallbladder removed once I'm done w/ the antibiotics.
So, not great (I'm rather attached to my organs, lol) but also, much less terrible than it could be. Thanks for everyone's kindness & concern, they helped. 🖤
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. 🤘🏼

So after examining me and doing a urine test, my doctor seemed pretty convinced it was gallstones... He gave me a shot of antibiotics, 2 prescriptions, did some lab work and sent me to get a C/T scan. It was a busy day.
BUT I just got my lab work back and it seems to shows severe pancreatitis, so...
I guess I just wait to see what he says tomorrow, since he wants to see me in the AM to discuss all the results 😕

Have had weird, severe stomach pain since 1pm yesterday without it dissipating (or getting worse, at least.)
It feels like I pulled every muscle on my right side and back, combined with this gnawing/burning feeling. My pain tolerance is pretty high but I'm going to the doctor in case it's gallstones or appendicitis. Yay.

@npub1ezh…ezkp YES. But yours sound like real-life horror- mine are usually supernatural. Sometimes people I know feature into them, but it can also be actors/celebrities, or people I've never met. Always surreal, and for me usually involving demons or ghosts, which is weird since I don't actually believe in any of that.
Since I started taking these meds, I still have them but w/out the paralyzing fear. It definitely makes them more fun. I'm sorry yours suck. :(

@npub17jk…hdl6 Yeah, I've noticed a decrease in activity here, too. I love how intimate our server is and how we all love horror, and I make a point to check out the Fediverse in general, but it just doesn't seem to provide the same amount of interaction.

The issue is that a lot of misogynist and ignorant dudes (including Nic) are talking out their ass about Night Country and its all female cast & writing, without reckoning or acknowledging how problematic & potentially plagiaristic the writing for Season 1 is.
Like, have valid criticism about the show but uh... Maybe not make it so obvious the problem is that it's female-centered 🙄

Ahhh #Bluesky is actually getting big enough to have a constant stream of good convos & interesting #horror news to repost. There's much interaction & rich discussion to be had, with the majority NOT allowing toxicity to infect the place. I'm lucky I found the very detail-oriented, mostly solitary jobs I was able to find but every place eventually turned into a corporate hell-hole and unsurprisingly, it was usually right around that time that I was let go because I wasn't a "team player," or was habitually late, or couldn't participate in meetings the way they wanted. It was never my WORK performance, always my attitude. 🙃

I am so lucky that my situation & good fortune has allowed me the opportunity to not have to work because I would be fucking fired from every damn job now factoring in how much stronger my autistic traits are + how ZOOM happy everyone is.
I always barely hung on to employment by finding very specific niche jobs that played to my weirdo quirks/strengths but those are rapidly disappearing as human-centric jobs devolve into bullshit capitalistic corporate homogenization & non-efficient efficiency.
