I've complained about this before, but I still maintain that the complexity of front-end open source projects in general (extensive build tools, UI moved to JS frameworks, Typescript, etc) is at least one of the biggest deterrents to accessibility folks contributing to open source. Like, no one wants to fix your markup when there are so many hurtles to get to it.

I really love, so much, that I have to juggle my WFH days not only between the days I'm well enough to work but feeling off enough that I know the office will be dreadful, BUT ALSO between the days we have a dangerous heat wave which makes commuting abysmal all so I can swipe a badge for the day.

I don't know who needs to hear this (yes I do), but if the "slick" UI thing you want to do creates a frustrating experience for assistive tech users, it's not slick. It's just clunky and weird, and probably creates other weird issues you haven't considered. Users don't want weird clunky new interactions you've dreamed up. Do the boring thing.
I spend so much of my time trying to stop people from doing weird things in our UI. That's like 50% of my job at this point.

Microsoft isn't using it right, teams at Amazon aren't using it right, it's not right for small dev teams, it's not right for small apps, it's not right for complex applications like browser UI or large apps, it's not right for static sites... who is it right for at this point

I made homemade beer cheese and soft pretzels for my partners birthday (pretzels are his favorite snack idk either). They turned out pretty tasty! I usually avoid anything that involves making bread because I suck at it so I'm so happy they turned out

I see a lot of folks making the argument that yeah, a lot of layoffs are happening, but it's due to irresponsible hiring. And yeah, it's true that you shouldn't hire a bunch of engineers that aren't doing anything; which usually isn't the case.
I think people don't understand just how unbelievably BAD the tech grift is right now for people in leadership positions. It's not just that they hired a lot of people, it's that they also tasked them with working on the wrong things.
