@npub1g0t…tvm4 I think the main problem is the high rate of interest the govt pays the clearing banks on its own money. It could easily be halved or got rid of entirely. Richard Murphy is good on this.

If you're not registered to vote in the UK, you have until 16th April to do so in order to vote in the May local elections. You can register online. You have until 17th April to apply for a postal vote. You can do the applications online. All you need is your National Insurance number. However, there will be some manual forms to fill in and submit after your initial application.

@npub1g0t…tvm4 From Theresa May onwards, successive Tory leaders have presented themselves as a new government with new policies and got away with it, apart from Truss, who pushed her agenda too much, too soon. (I suspect that, had she been more circumspect, she too would still be PM). I remember talking to a neighbour in 2019 who said "Things will change now Boris is in charge".

@npub1g0t…tvm4 They complain about high taxation, but the UK is one of the lowest taxed countries in the G20. The problem isn't taxation, but interest rates. The family extensively quoted says their mortgage payments are now a third of their net income. They were clearly over-mortgaged in the first place. It is certainly rentier capitalism causing this, but the article (deliberately?) deflects to taxation on the eve of a budget where the govt is pushing just this false remedy of tax cuts.
