Got a question for any #tea drinkers out there. I really like the taste of plain tea (most varieties, no additives) but I want something without caffeine that I can drink throughout the day. Rooibos is too sweet for me. Mint tea is good but I'm really looking for something that replicates the tannins in ceylon or darjeeling. Maybe I should experiment with roasted dandelion roots again.
Any suggestions?

I want to be more #mindful about how I use my time. Coping with overwhelming todo lists by letting myself be distracted doesn't feel good at the end of the day. I'd like to improve #productivity in healthy ways.

Y'all know I'm a sucker for leading ridge lines.
I had just hiked out one such ridge to Mt Trico (from Robin Lakes). When I reached the end of the increasingly hard to follow trail I was met with this vista. I felt a familiar tug pulling me onward. A part of me would have followed this line over the horizon.

@npub1c5c…644a yeah. I found it kinda tough to get good pictures of it. There's not a lot of good spots to get a view of the whole thing and the early morning light was messing with the colors. Amazing place though.

By which I mean I get into some really stupid situations and have to extricate myself.
Not, "what a great story" stupid situations, like embarrassingly stupid, why would you ever do that, stupid situations.

Yesterday I spent most of the day packing up camp and taking stuff home. This morning I'm unloading the cars and putting stuff away. Next weekend I'll be helping my dad clean out his dad's garage.
Home much of life is spent just moving stuff around?
No wonder the #minimalism of #backpacking feels like freedom.

Annual family #camping trip was a smashing success. 5 days camped next to Yale lake, swimming, kayaking, and birding. We IDed crossbills, befriended a cowbird, and watched the osprey and eagles fishing. I may find some pictures to post later but mostly didn't have my phone, just immersed in the moment.

Hi-res image of a collapse lava tube on the moon. Caves like this one could provide a good place to start building permanent bases on the moon as the interior would offer natural radiation shielding and a more stable temperature. I find images like this so evocative. #space is a real place where robots and humans can explore. Who knows what we might find?

Welp, it's officially "check the fire & smoke maps every morning" season. My annual long hike is less than 2 weeks out and there's a fire 20 miles from my planned destination. Time to evaluate options.
Really feeling for the PCT thru hikers. Between a late melt and early fires the window to complete the trail seemed impossibly short this year.

TIL: Stanford has an online encyclopedia of #philosophy! It's huge and the articles I've skimmed so far are really well written.
I've been went looking for a layman's explanation of the notation for lambda calculus, since I'm filling in gaps in my #compsci education and that lambda calculus is used in a lot of papers. The Stanford article is the best explanation I've seen.

If the water level was just a little lower I could have seen rock hopping as an option.
