I'd guess that larger organizations wouldn't fall into this specific trap in the first place if for no other reason than they'd not update and reboot everything at once. For the scenario mhoye talks about, I'd think the most vulnerable org would be a smaller shop with just 1 to 3 servers. A real possibility someone might decide to update everything at once. I'd guess a larger percentage of smaller orgs also didn't plan for offline encryption key backup.

BTW, I don’t think I’d like the idea of people being able to use their address book or phone contacts to see if I have a particular payment service account. We’ve had cases where extended family called up and asked for money, and it’s been nice to say “sorry, we don’t have that app”, which was a true statement, but I’d like to retain that excuse even if eventually I sign up for one.

This is my third harvest of raspberries for the year — 476 g. I’d estimate about 650 g in prior harvests, so 1.1 kg total (about 2 pounds 7 ounces).
My garden is 100% organic. The raspberry blooms fed a lot of pollinators 4 weeks ago including this giant bumblebee 🐝 in the second shot. Unfortunately no pesticide also means bugs eat and spoil some of my crop. In my opinion, it’s worth it to help the pollinators and not poison myself.

Ha! Good catch! I hadn’t noticed that distinction. From what I recall of the video game crash articles I’ve read, many big retailers likely had contracts to return unsold machines.

Wikipedia says “By late 1982, TI was dominating the U.S. home computer market, shipping 5,000 computers a day from their factory in Lubbock, Texas.”
That all may be true, but I didn’t know anyone with a TI nor seen one at a school or library, but I had seen systems from the other 4 (Commodore, TRS, Apple, and Atari).

I don’t claim to be an expert, but what I recall contemporaneously (circa 1982) was I didn’t become aware of the existence of the Texas Instruments computer until several years after Apple, TRS-80, Commodore, and Atari all had established strong footholds in home computing. By then, people were becoming aware that buying one system meant you could only use software and accessories for that system.
