Yes, fascinating to explore this, isn't it?
On the bright side, we can produce dopamine from within ourselves with healthy non-addictive practices, such as cold plunging and breathwork.
When practicing the Wim Hof method you're obviously not addicted to pain 😄 But you learn how to manage it and even how to turn it into energy (cori cycle).

The problem with this and such quotes is that people don't know what 'goodness' and 'the right thing' to do is. That's why the quote speaks to everyone and noone at the same time.
Everybody wants to be 'good' and thinks they are. Our mind is amazing at making stuff up and deceiving ouselves if we haven't found out and mastered how it really works. Through breathwork, meditation, yoga ... you name it.
So, these quotes are powerful only once we have done the inner work to find out where the 'light', 'truth', 'love', 'goodness' really is.
Marcus Aurelius very likely did that inner work with the means available during his time, with famous stoic teachers. This then is real freedom. Freedom from the inside that will keep you on track. You will feel it and know it deep inside. No morality necessary anymore.
Before that 'good' is just a word that everybody understands differently.

The reality of how you and your mind works reveals itself much more strongly when you are in silence with yourself, having reduced the activity of the sense organs to a minimum.
Once you master that kinda silence, the awareness it brings can be applied to any activity in life.

🏔️ Connecting with Nature through the Wim Hof Method 🌊
One remarkable thing the Wim Hof Method stirs in me is that I increasingly feel the desire to connect with pure nature. Now, what does that mean?
You may know that slight feeling of eeriness when looking at deep moving waters or that tiny insecurity when darkness creeps up around you alone among the trees? You are sure there's nothing to worry about. But still, these little old conditioned anxieties, these unreasonable mind scenarios, they keep coming up and make you seek safety.
They are different for everyone, but these anxieties in the foreground are a sign for inner blockages that deprive us from expressing our power and creativity. What's more, they separate us from nature. They suggest, everything around us is potentially dangerous. Is it though?
When practicing the Wim Hof Method, and especially right after the breathing exercises, I can immediately feel a clarity emerging, a stronger awareness of presence in the moment. Anxieties are caringly pushed back to their rightful place, but do not control my actions and no longer dominate my state of being.
And so suddenly, the world view shifts. Eerie deep moving waters become fascinating, the darkness around reveals the beauty of trees casting soft moonlight shadows. I deeply appreciate what is, I want to touch the waters, I want to merge with the shadows, I feel that power. Instead of running away I want to connect with nature. I'm more aware of the present and should danger reveal itself, I have the confidence that I can properly react when it arises. But until then, I can enjoy beauty and connectedness. The powerful shift is from scenarios about potential threats around me to curiosity and beautiful opportunity everywhere.
There are countless great techniques and traditions that guide us to such shifts. But with regular practice, I find the Wim Hof Method to be particularly simple, accessible and effective.

But that's exactly the stuff to honestly process. Sadhguru put this something like that: "If you sit in silence and it's unbearable, then you are not keeping yourself good company."

When I say the Wim Hof method connects us with pure nature, I mean first and foremost that it reduces anxiety and gives us the confidence to follow our intuition. Well, how does it do that? Good thing is that the 'Hoffers' make a big effort to speak the language of current-day science.
During the breathing practice, the body produces large amounts of adrenaline, up to 10 times more than during a first-time bungee jump 👀 This adrenaline spike has several effects, one of which is that our body produces more energy and brings us in a heightened state of awareness. Like sudden super powers when we have to quickly face or escape a dangerous situation. As the adrenaline rush is only short term, the body adapts positively and enhances its functionality in the face of future stressful situations.
At the same time, the full conscious breathing and extended breath retention phases stimulate the vagus nerve which makes us feel more calm and relaxed. It activates a part of our brain which enhances internal focus and awareness of the present moment - meaning we worry less about the past and future.
So within a short period of time, the Wim Hof method simultaneously makes us more energetic and focussed, as well as relaxed and present. Less anxiety, more confidence, closer to our natural state of being.

Just this morning, I was expressing that with the food currently available in supermarkets - even most 'organic' products - we are essentially microdosing toxic substances every day. The food is also deprived of its original nourishing potential for various (often economic) reasons.
Added up, this causes a constant low level of inflammation in our bodies which is a natural reaction for activating our innate immune systems against toxins. If we have inflammation for too long - and we do - and then add to it all the other stressors in our lives (environment, livelihood, anxieties etc.) then we develop modern-day chronic diseases. We become dependent on specific medicines which alleviate some suffering, but don't heal the disease.
There are natural ways to address latent inflammation, breathwork in particular, which simultaneously heightens our awareness of body sensations.
Once this awareness is established, we can listen to and trust our bodies better, and as you well said ... eat responsibly, eat less, rise in consciousness. What we take in is what we will be made of tomorrow.

To accept that anger is part of you right now. To learn how to observe anger for what it is. That means, to objectively observe the body sensations related to anger. Those could be heat, stomach pressure, anything. Then realize deeply that the sensations change all the time. Your emotions change, your anger changes. Everything changes all the time. Then your anger is seen and can dissipate. And if during that process you were able to untie a deep subconcious conditioning, the anger may never return with the same strenght or at all. Through meditation you heighten your awareness of body sensations. Constant, effortless awareness of your emotions and related body sensations throughout the day is meditation. Very nice! If you take regular cold showers already, the cold plunge isn't too tough anymore. The good thing about the Wim Hof Method is that they are making a huge effort to have modern-day scientific backing for its positive effects. Being exposed to the cold short term and consciously activates a process called hormesis that strengthens the body vis-à-vis all types of environmental conditions. So yeah, great you can feel it ❄️
