I think people don't know that I'm a moderator on the Python forum. The behavior in the CoC topic would normally not fly, but certain people take moderation as a sign they should be even louder. I'd shut it down, but I'm the only one making visible moderation decisions, and having that spotlight on me is even more stressful. I'm exhausted navigating it all. If you're wondering how the CoC discussion is going on the Python forums, someone (who was apparently a board member) is now implying that people enforcing the CoC are "well meaning but dramatically overzealous" and "a sanctimonious few [who] decide to protect us from ourselves". And got mad when that was flagged as inappropriate. If you at all feel like wading through that thread, I encourage you to add likes to the posts talking about the actual reality of CoC enforcement.

There's this weird dance going on with the PSF bylaws discussion, where certain people know they can't outright say "I don't like having a code of conduct" so instead they find ways to say "Of course the CoC is fine and of course I trust the current people, but have you considered that they _could_ be incompetent or evil in this hypothetical?" Python has seen significant performance improvements in the last few releases. MarkupSafe has a C extension to speed up operations, but it's now *slower* in many cases than the plain Python implementation. Having a C extension increases the difficulty of maintenance, builds, releases, and installs.
