@nprofile…240e @nprofile…dhpg Exactly. If you look at most PSR-17 + PSR-7 implementations, they will parse the query string and set the parameters as part of initial construction. Most of the time, this is by passing `$_GET` to the PSR-7 SRI constructor or its factory method.

@nprofile…gms0 3.5 weeks in now! The journal is almost full; I created the one for April over the past weekend, applying lessons I learned creating the first one. :)
Paying attention to "what will make me successful" has definitely helped. The other part was just sitting down one day and ... doing it. Action matters.

Finished a tile tonight. I use masking fluid to create a reverse border and string before applying a watercolor wash. The rest is done with ink and colored pencils.

That's a me thing, though, but mainly from having been burned in the 00s.when running my own.

@nprofile…utw6 My parents volunteered at a local radio station when I was a kid (and well into my adulthood). I got my FCC license at age 13, and was GM of my college radio station.
The transition from vinyl to CDs was ... interesting. It was amazing the sorts of things you could do to transition between songs with vinyl, and those largely went away with CDs where playback was immediate.
I'd stopped doing radio by the time MP3 and other digital players started being adopted.

@nprofile…240e @nprofile…gvrm Exactly this. In my own experiments with them lately, I'm doing public private(set) with a set hook that does validation. This ensures my data/value objects are always in a correct state, while allowing me to access values directly. It allows me to move validation into those objects, which simplifies a lot of workflows.

@nprofile…dhpg @nprofile…utw6 True story: for ZendPHP, we wrote into our zendphpctl script the functionality for downloading a pecl package, unpacking, and running phpize with phpconfig because the pecl command had become unreliable. I've literally not used pecl in years now.

Updated my website from #php 8.2 to 8.4 this week, and literally the only changes I needed to make were to update a few dependencies. The language is getting more and more stable, and static analysis and php-compat mean I've dealt with the problematic areas of the language in my codebase already, minimizing the effort to upgrade.
This is the (coding and development) future I was looking for 15 years ago.

If I were running a WP site on a hosting provider other than WP dot com at this time, I'd be asking my provider what their contingency plan is. Who's going to be next - Kinsta? Pagely? SiteGround? Pantheon?
If I were on the WP Foundation or the Automattic boards, I'd be resigning or creating a coalition to oust Mullenweg before he causes more damage.

After seeing yet another PHP heredoc/nowdoc example that breaks the parent code indentation, your reminder: as of #PHP 7.3 (that's almost six feature versions ago!), all line indentation matching that of the end marker is stripped from those lines. This means you CAN indent those lines so they flow better in your code.

One huge benefit of ditching Tailwind and going back to straight CSS: I've been able to do layout changes directly in CSS without needing toodify templates. CSS Grid allows me to define grid areas, and features like nth-child allow me to hide or show rows or columns of tables easily.

I've not done much #css in the past (checks watch) decade, and it's been fun to discover that all the things I'd used tools like SASS or frameworks like Bootstrap for in the past... just exist now as part of CSS. But the problem is finding good tutorials that are (a) succinct, and (b) actually cover things from basics (variables, media selectors) to things like layout (I know a bit of flexbox, but grid?). Anybody have any resources they've found useful?

Ignoring all the times Trump has called for violence to:
- Immigrants
- BLM and BIPOC people in general
- LGBTQ people
- Pro-choice advocates
- Women
- Poor people
- Veterans
- Homeless people
And a ton I'm leaving off this list.

The fact is, many folks qualified for these positions have forgotten more than most folks know, but understand what to build, the general architecture to achieve it, and what things to avoid. This is invaluable knowlege that stems from experience. Technical exams don't test for that!

I always get folks in the replies with their absolutist FOSS takes. Every. Single. Time.
Trust me, I know what the hard line is for some people. I've been using FOSS for over 2 decades, but not exclusively. Calling me out for using something non-FOSS when I need to for any reason does nobody any good, and makes you sound like RMS. Maybe keep those hot takes to yourself?
