being a Latter-day Saint myself, I agree. Mostly it's because the church is volunteer led, and the only people who have time to volunteer the amount of time it takes to fill higher local/regional positions in the church are wealthy.
Global leaders get a modest stipend but wouldn't be noticed and called to such leadership without being in volunteer roles first.

Quarry blast near Hat Rock in Oregon this morning was detected by USGS, registering at M1.2. There are numerous rock quarries in the Columbia Basin with events like this happening every few months.
The seismographs used aren't precise enough to put the point exactly at the quarry site, but it is pretty dang close.

Looks like my wife and I are heading to a lookout this afternoon to see if we can capture a funnel cloud and/or waterspout. Luckily the site we've chosen has a playground for our daughter.

Funnel clouds are possible in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and adjacent mountains with thunderstorms today. A weak #tornado or waterspout wouldn't surprise me but is unlikely.
Most people in this region will not experience thunder, let alone see a funnel cloud.
Dry t-storms appear to be a risk in the Southern Interior. Watch for new #wildfire starts.

A few showers with afternoon thunder possible today and tomorrow. Thunder is most likely in and near the mountains. High near 20 both days.
Some leftover showers possible Thursday with morning clouds and afternoon sun Friday. Clouds increase again Saturday evening for a shot of showers beginning late Sunday.

it's pretty common for the remnants of typhoons to impact Alaska. Rarely, they cross the Pacific and reach the Northwest (most notably the 1962 Columbus Day storm).

#ERCOT peak #energy load today (Monday) was the second highest on record, reaching 85595 MW at 17:20 CT. The current record is 85612 MW set August 10, 2023. There’s a chance it gets broken tomorrow.

14:45 CT Monday - #ERCOT is now within 2 GW of their all-time #energy load record. Still a decent chance of them exceeding the record of 85.6 GW this afternoon, and then doing it again tomorrow.
About 25% of their load is currently being served by #solar.

This is easier to do in France than other countries because the national utility is owned by the government.
Adding small-scale solar like this is difficult to encourage in many parts of the United States because many areas have privately-owned utility monopolies. #energy #renewableenergy

I agree that last weekend's storms aren't a good example as a symptom of climate change. We are for sure seeing climate change in the Pacific Northwest, but this weather setup is classic for a rare Northwest thunderstorm outbreak.
Climate change is being felt up here in rising dew points, less winter snow, warmer summer nights, etc.
