JFC, folk on twitter blaming CrowdStrike outage on DEI. Literally no information beyond "a common error in C++ and recognized failure mode of handling untrusted data in the kernel", moreover a failure mode that has occurred repeatedly over the years, but only now does it change from "unavoidable problem in software" to "probably DEI"

@npub1src…fms4 sure Biden isn’t perfect, but the ability to do anything is severely hamstrung by the Supreme Court put in place by all those people who went “Hillary isn’t a real liberal” and voted for trump by not voting or by voting for stein. The result of those self centered shitheads is abortion is illegal, discrimination against LGBT is legal, voter suppression is legal, gerrymandering is legal, etc
All of which means you don’t get to not vote democrat because they’re not doing enough.

@npub1alm…57vz the lack of meaningful paid sick leave and the prevalence of retaliation for low income workers if they do use what minimal sick leave they’re ostensibly provided mean that for many people their is no choice about going to work while sick. Yes it’s unacceptable, but the fault is not theirs in those cases.

@npub1hxf…g8qu I still don't see how someone in the EU can plausibly contribute to OSS projects following this. Plenty of people have things like Patreon or GitHub sponsors, which seems like it might mean their work is now "commercial", plenty of devs know that their work ends up in commercial products (RedHat, Proton, Chrome, etc). Plenty of commercial companies produce OSS and make money from support contracts, etc *for that software*.
Does every developer now need their own lawyer?

Wait, so nothing didn't reverse the protocol or anything, they literally had you do a remote sign in on a Mac mini? That gave them full access to your _entire_ apple account, iCloud docs, photos, etc?
So they dropped any pretense of encryption, drastically invaded your privacy, and put a giant fucking target on their back for "this way to fully compromised apple accounts".

SBF having consequences is purely a product of him having rich victims. As with Holmes and Theranos, the only reason this trial happened is because SBF's made the mistake of causing harm to the rich and famous - look at all the other crypto fraudsters, the ones that have had *any* consequences had VC or similar funding, as long as you aren't defrauding someone with a congressperson on speed dial you're fine.
