I found out that it’s possible to have too much turmeric. There are side effects! Especially if you have it with lots of black pepper. That’s a shame. (Nothing gross, just dizziness) An excess of one or the other in future then! 😅😵‍💫

Cleaned the hob, so once again ranting to myself (and now you) that engineering students need part of their ‘year in industry’ to be as cleaning and maintenance staff. And then anyone designing appliances needs to go on refresher courses where they have to clean fridges and hobs and so on.

Emergency high speed gardening done. I ordered some bulbs thinking they’d be pretty much dormant but they’re sprouting in the bags! So yanked out some of the raspberry shoots and shoved the bulbs in. It’s always like this. I have a limited capacity for ‘being organised’ and work and household bills account for all of it, the rest I claim is ‘wabi sabi’. The good thing is our garden is full of birds and insects. Full. The birds don’t even fly away when I go out there now. #gardening

These red ones were from the bit of rose bush I cut back today. They smell of sherbet lemons. Lemon and rose goes together so well, I guess that’s why Turkish Delight comes in those flavours.

Giving Gardeners World a bit of sideye. The Oh Look At Our Little Garden In Swansea (in Mumbles probably and that likely cost 30 grand to build plus the fancy outdoor kitchen)
Why do I find it irritating though? It’s the lack of acknowledgement that this shit gets expensive and is a huge project to do. Also, on some of the gardens you can just about work out they have gardeners doing it for them, but they rarely say. Feels dishonest.

When you’ve done a particular job and made sure you did it as best you could, and even though the technology made things weird and difficult you worked around it and applied craft to it, so that it would work well and do what it needed to do without causing problems, it’s really hard to see someone doing it now with no care or thought or craft or diligence, and what’s more they don’t know or care whether it does the job or not.
