Got podping working properly on channel/video updates.
Really highlighted how much work was being done on every RSS request, so enabled caching of rss feeds to cut down unneeded cpu abuse.

Finally got styxhexenhammer666.com transferred from a dedi to a vps
Main issue was trouble dumping and restoring between Postgresql 12 and 14. Managed to get 14 to 14 working with a clean boot before dumping.
This will let me knock $99 of my monthly hosting bills.
#Garage Object storage continues to exceed all my testing metrics, working great with several TB of video so far
Next up, migrate p2ptube.us to a vps.

So far so good. A few hundred CC Music videos worked without issues over my nap. Pushing a complete instance video library of 13k vidoes and 2T data now.
Feels good to finally be seeing the end of this ops issue so I can get back to concentrating on dev issues

Beat CORS and http/https mismatch into submission. Have a PeerTube instance working with an internationally distrubuted Garage data store. There are so many options in S3 compatible data stores it blows my mind how many people make it rain cash on amazon.
Set it up for some big channel imports to stress test the creation side. Time for a nap.

bad news:
This intermittant object storage issue between PeerTube and SeaweedFS has beaten me, some instances work without issue, some fail on large files, some fail 20% of the time irregardless of size. I've have tired everything I can think of, even the extreme step of opening issues for help.

In one night I've made it to the last step of getting Garage FS working with PeerTube. They even have a guide. Now I just need to beat the CORS configuration boss.

Youtube autosync uses a slightly different url format than manual import, fixed that in 0.3.4
Working on automating transcript download from YouTube, running into issue that the API needs a token to set the caption text, but with the autosync there's no live user to provide the token. Either need to figure out a different way to set the caption info or require admin creds in the plugin configuration.

Added automatic syncing of Youtube video ID to extended video data for imported videos in podcast2 plugin v 0.3.3
This will allow #truefans users to watch using YouTube's bandwidth thanks to having the embed in an Alternate enclosure in the rss feed, help prevent direct duplication, and enable a few other features moving forward.

Thanks, but not really. Podping's working pefectly, all the problems are on my side. Setting it up so 1 peertube instance with a podping API key can proxy pings from other instances that don't have a key to make it easier for sysop's to setup.

beta site successfully moved 600 videos that had failed transfer previously, object storage issue marked resolved.
Checking podcast2 compatibility with changes in PeerTube release candidate:
Verified the new itunes:owner support overrides the plugin version, but works.
Verified the new 1500x1500 avatar support is working and automatically used in plugin rss feed
Looks good, still passing validator testing.

Lightning plugin progress
fixed bug falsely showing the ability to give cross app comments when the account doesn't have a configured lightning address.
fixed bug sometimes not showing cross app comments due to hooks firing in random orxer
Still verifying bug causing multiple lightning icons intermittantly has been fixed.
In process found bugs causing way too much redundant network traffic happening for federated video lightning info that needs to be squashed

Not sure if this exists but i'm approaching a need for it.
Creating a vtt transcript from a video & text.
Audiobooks and songs have the text already, it just needs to be timestamped to when it appears in the media file. Logically this should take less CPU and improve accuracy over current blind transcripting services.

Testing audio book support. Sample audiobook at the channel level has
<podcast:medium>audiobook</podcast:medium><itunes:type>serial</itunes:type>
Every episode has the podcast:episode and itunes:episode value set to the chapter number
https://podcastindex.org/podcast/6872230 and tjhe apps I've tested so far show the chapters in the order they show up in the RSS feed, ignoring both the episode numbers and the ordered display directive for serial podcasts.
Are there any apps where this works?

There was an issue with the VPS that music.freediverse.com was running on, the drive was misconfigured and thought it had more space than it actually did. A new user started synching his rather large youtube account and filled up the drive, crashing the vps unrecoverably due to the improper config. Rebuilt the VPS properly and attempt to restore db from backup, but the postgres dump is faulty and won't restore.
I need to figure out a way to test db dump validity when it's created apparently

#PeerTube has the licencing selected on a per-video basis, the RSS tag podcast:license is on a per-channel basis.
Added ability to select an overall license for a channel and surface that in the channel RSS feed.

- PeerTube allows uploading of audio files
- Each album is a channel with each track being a video/auidio file
- Each artist has and album has an about page with pictures and text, plugin would needed to add more configurability. and better highlight music features.
- Already compatible with Podcasting 2.0 RSS music distribution for playback in modern podcast apps.
The main PeerTube team is already working on updating the audio-only support in PeerTube

I would definitely say podcast for the live event.
afterwards I'm unsure
1 podcast channel for concerts, with each concert being an episode and song changes marked with chapters
or multiple music channels with each concert being it's own channel and songs being edited into individual episodes.
the former would work well for the Dead or Phish, the later would work great for Live at Budoken
Maybe both?

On the hosting side PeerTube includes the liveValue info in the RSS feed. On the client side the PeerTube server monitors the socket.io connection for updates so that web clients boost the currently active split block when they hit the boost button.

There was a thread on the @npub1kqk…9rfa forum that #PeerTube RSS feeds aren't being accepted by spotify or itunes. It mentioned some specific tags which I'm trying to resolve.
I've been using https://validator.livewire.io/ which doesn't report the issues with the unfixed feed.
Is there a better validator to use?
