Fellow #Hachyderm folks! If you, like me, have been patiently waiting to opt-in to full-text search and thought you couldn't yet because there didn't seem to be an announcement that it was ready after the announcement that it was not ready, rejoice! Turns out it was enabled a couple of weeks ago. 🎉
And if you're even more like me: don't expect to find the opt-in under Settings -> Preferences! It's Settings -> Public Profile, and it's up at the top, cleverly disguised as “Totally not a button”.

I just discovered that @npub1svs…p66u will now automatically attach a description to a photo if that description is stored in the photo’s info! I started saving descriptions to photos of mine when I was posting them and needed #AltText, in case I might post them again. I used to open the photo and copy the description manually, but now it comes along automatically! 😍

@npub1zdp…vqv8 My daughter’s pediatrician asked me how I disciplined her (she was two!), and when I said I don’t do much discipline as figure out what the problem is (hungry, tired, sensory overload, etc.) he was mystified. He was like “But if she’s having a tantrum you put her in time out, right?”
No I don’t, because remote debugging is hard? 🤨

Is there a free #IDE that’s intuitive for first-time programmers to use? Even VS Code has a pretty high cognitive load out of the box, what with having to install an extension for whatever language you want to use and all the tabs for version control, terminal, debugging, testing, etc. The “Run” button is tiny and has a drop-down with potentially confusing questions. For brand-new users I’d love to have a cleaner interface by default, with the option to toggle on additional complexity.

@npub1efv…4jx2 The keyboard is a ZSA Moonlander, and is pictured with their tenting platform (I actually use a different tenting solution now, but the same sort of principle). My wrists get to be fully neutral, no rotation at all, with my shoulders totally open. I 😍 it.

@npub18jh…phdn No way should this information ever be in the hands of school officials, especially now. I looked up the form and apparently it’s common in all states to ask about menstrual history because irregular menstruation can be a sign of ill health, especially for athletes, but the info on the form is still covered by HIPPA and school officials don’t meet that criterion. Well-intentioned or not this information shouldn’t be collected on a school form.

Just now I misread "Neurodiverse" as "Neuroverse", and I loved intensely the idea of using #Neuroverse as a fully inclusive way to describe the whole multi-dimensional space of our brains and their mysterious ways.
So I'm keeping it! The neuroverse. ❤️
